God is a concept, invented by men to be shield when scared and sword when angered.

I agree, opium for the people.
Religion is often used in an abusive way, as to supress weaker classes.

But a god and religion isn't always entirely the same. From religion you can put some useful things in the back of your mind to reflect on. But you don't have to believe in a god per sé.

I am an atheïst, but I respect people that are religious. I am not the one to judge about their actions. Merely to inform them with my ideas.

I'm with Wog and untangled_wool on this! I actually agree in many Gods and Goddesses, and I'm with the Wiccan religion!

God created the universe, the earth, and us. He is love, He is hope, He is savior. He never fails us. He is perfect. He is forgiving. He has provided us with hope. He is the answer to all and any questions. He provided us an opportunity of eternal life in Heaven. He never promises things will be easy or perfect while living on earth, because we are imperfect people. YET He promises deliverance and help and love and understanding and grace and hope. HE IS.

. . . is a good idea. People take this 'good idea' far too seriously though. I respect a persons religion more when they use God and religion as a way to channel strength and faith.

I think God is some super natural thing out there that created us all and there is a reason for why were are here. And if your bad he uses your soul again but if your good your free to rome the universe.

I think God is something to great to even put words or understanding to.....he is something we can not touch, hear, feel....except in our soul....it is a feeling within that connects us to Him....I think there is one God and we are allowed to find our connection with Him however we can....in what ever form of religion, worship, or belief. Just as long as we find Him.....after all, we ARE only human...and He knows we lack the ability to fully understand....

I agree with Joseph Campbell that God is a metaphor of something supernatural beyond our comprehension that explains the mysteries of life.

I don't believe in GOD. But in a higher power.
On another note.
I do not look down on those who do.
I believed in God at one time.
Those that continue to believe in God...

God is made up, or maybe misinterpreted when it really was something else.
God is an invisible man who is worshiped by many. Some may seek refugee in him because they are afraid of the truth. It is not god to blame though, but the people who embrace "him"

The fact that humans are so self important to assume there is a higher power THAT is involved in their everyday lifes, it's just preposterous to me. People need to put meaning to their emotions (guilt,fear,shame,desire). They seek comfort and stability through the church. In their 'simple minds' if you repent enough,pray enough, read the bible enough...you'll wash away all those human feelings...or at least be able to 'deal' with it better. Church and religion is just another way for people to give their pathetic meaningless lives more significance.

I believe in me. I am my own God. I do not believe in the typical concept of God!I believe the whole idea has been altered and rearranged to the point, it is used to fall back on, for hope or repentance.. For whatever reason I dont fault anyone who believes in God or follows strongly in their religion. I do however loathe those who think that because they live life that way, that everyone else should too. I don't try to put my beliefs on anyone else, they need to follow suit.
