| Uni Choice's |
Unless you think that me typing and pressing send is exactly 12:00pm you may of guessed that I write alot of my recent blogs in the past and leave thoughts to post them on for me. The plain and simple reason for that is because I'm not attached to thoughts.com it is rather like a wardrobe of x-rated DVDs that I go to once in a while when the other blogging sites appear to be having their time of the month. I have a choice for Tuesdays and the choice is between weather or not to discuss my discussed in dancing, the DSi, the highly manipulative Creativity through the ages post or where I am in university. Well I decided to go for the last, and leave the rest for another day. Lucky you.
Yes, university although I didn't want to go it appears that the world of Jobs in the UK or more specifically West Midlands is more covered in crap and evil corporations demanding the best out of its office drawn workers than lets say 1950s New York. Therefore about a month, maybe 2 ago I decided to put in a late entry. After a week of faffing about with meetings with advisers and sorting out the UCAS forms and paying £17 for it to be processed I was all set to hear just what they were going to say to me.
I am very afraid of loosing security, the plain and simple reason being that I don't want to end up a lonely tramp under a bridge offering round cold soup, or maybe the reason is because I don't want to feel the fear. You see the reason of why I like video games and like computers is because there is a save button. If everything goes in the bin because I accidentally through a nuke instead of firing a bullet I can go from the last saved checkpoint and read the manual only to discover that the nuke button doesn't exist. Therefore university seemed to make more sense. Now another reason why was because I don't like blame. I mean I'm more qualified than Bill Gate's maid but I kind of need a piece of paper telling the employer that I have a degree in cleaning and moving stuff around in order to get the job and so it would open doors.
I think if you haven't already closed your eyes and haven't started to stick a load of Zs in the comment box that you'll be asking me to get to the bloody point of this blog and the point is this. On Saturday I received four Letters and a Bunch of leaflets all in a white envelope. Up opening it it said that I had a conditional offer. I then spent the best part of half an hour try to figure out where the login box on the UCAS website was which would tell me what the conditions were and not ask me do I speak Chinese. After the last 10 minutes of me digging into the website I found the link which was under terms. I mean this URL may as well of said 'Don't click here' and I would of found it quicker. Through and through I more than qualify for four HnDs in computers.
Now the first two are general computers, science and technology however the second two branch out into the two subjects that I'm more interested in. Programing. However I am now rather stuck with a Dilemma, pronouncing Dilemma the same way I'd decide which cliff to fall off one being spike and the other being slightly blunt spikes. The two in question are Games Programming and Software Development. Now the two are both programing but which to choose. Is the games market bigger than the software one. Also am I limited to going in to a job with a relative degree? also will the other students of the games programming one be Cheeto eating zombies? either way I'm sending off my answer tomorrow and I might just flip a coin. I mean one might mean a better job but the other would mean three years of something that I've been doing since I was 7 on excel and MS paint during the rains of the UK...
At any rate I am in and I don't think I'll be pestered for a job for the first half of the year because I'll be learning how to drive and so I guess I could use that as an excuse. I guess also that there really isn't much to fear seeing as Geeks are Geeks no matter where you go and its not like I'm going to have to be talking to the snort laughing zombies during my break now is it?
