"Alibis By Storytellers" Part IV: Echoes of Resurr
"I have heard, far too many times, that the night is darkest just before dawn. I have walked this path, fighting for hope that this is true. In my solitude, I had grown tired of the rose that found shadows of beauty in its throne of decay. I refuse to become that, it is why I walk through this desolate forest. Guarded only by the thick trunks of the withered trees and the bleak, dying, echoes of the the creatures within. This road looks awkwardly familiar, but I feel like I have never become acquainted. The lonely feeling still haunts. Why shouldn't it? I have have no company in this isolation. Not anymore, anyhow. I can see ruins in the distance, the ruins of another guardian's fallen castle. Perhaps his soldier also lies broken under the weight of the stones. I begin to feel less and less alone, which lessens the wind's pity, and it begins to howl again.

I walk to the edge of the wasteland and stare into the destruction. I notice little pieces of rubble that resemble my own fortress, but no solider lies battered within. This, surely, was my own fortress. I have seen every sign that made it unique, however I have no sight of the soldier. I turn around to walk away again, and there he stands, still holding onto pride. Just looking into his eyes gives me shame. The only world we both knew fell to the ground. He was even pressed to the brink of destruction himself, and yet he stands before me with more honor than I held alone. I can feel my spirit rising. I know now that the fall of the fortress was not the end of our journey and I stand straight and look into his eyes once again. This time,  I can see a reflection of pride, staring back into me. We both rise again. 'It is time,' his voice monotone but his message screamed into my heart. The demon will be punished, I have just yet to understand how.

We begin to move forward, but the gales rage again and again. I know the world is not fair, but how can I fight Her, when I am still fighting myself?" ~X (7/28/08 1:45 A.M.)
