A couple of nights ago, I had the strangest dream concerning the British Royal Family's most senior figure, The Queen.
It started well, but got stranger and stranger...this is how it started:
I was in my school, set into the countryside with trees dotted all around us and the odd tractor crawling around, when a car pulled up I presume.
Her Majesty the Queen got out of the car and proceeded towards to main hall; no Prince Philip or any servants to hand, just her, the Queen, walking calmly and quickly towards the main hall.
Nobody stopped her, nobody gave her a second glance or even acknowledged her presence as she wound round the buildings, drawing ever nearer to her destination.
I was sat inside the hall on the walkway on one of the chairs, humming (something that I never do in reality) to myself.
I turn my head and see the Queen, dressed in a bright red dress suit, striding purposefully towards me, a smile painted across her face like a China doll.
She sits next to me, dusting herself down with her hands and turns her head towards the main stage expectantly. There was nothing there, no speaker, no performance of any kind; yet the Queen continued to stare happily towards the front, the smile never fading from her lips.
I sit back and think what she is doing here and why, in the name of sanity, is she sitting back with no Prince Philip or any assistants of any kind surrounding her staring expectantly towards a stage that is silent. (Later I will come to realize that I was doing the same thing just before she entered the Hall, but that doesn't occur to me in the dream).
At last some movement; Prince Philip was striding, like the Queen, purposefully towards us with a smile the same as the Queen's. He sits and mimics the Queen's equally bizarre facial qualities.
At this point I tug on the Queens suit, looking up at her and say, "Prince Philips arrived,"; she seems not to notice.
Then suddenly it all changes, we are not in a Hall anymore, we are in a plane flying high over either Buckingham Palace or Balmoral (I can not deduce which of them it was). I was sitting next to the window with the Queen on my right looking down the rows of chairs, perhaps searching for Prince Philip because he seems to have disappeared again leaving the Queen unattended.
The view is magnificent. We are zooming over countryside when the plane suddenly lurches to one side my window now facing directly towards the ground giving me a perfect view of the palace/castle below.
I say to the Queen, "Look, isn't it amazing...!"
This time she replies, "Yes isn't it...You know I live there, lovely place..."
Then the dream ends abruptly.
I didn't know what to think of it, I was slightly amused the morning after when I realised what I had been dreaming about, perhaps I want to meet the Queen, or maybe invite her to visit my school. I really have no idea.

I was actually thinking about writing to her, but never got round to it... Did you go and see her when she was there?

Maybe the queen was ashamed of her actions, on the celebrated day. When she sent the prince off - as respite for relief. Just maybe, she is trying to protect the prince from the wraith of the townspeople - by remaining in exile. Or maybe she was frightened, for just being a queen in one's eyes, does not make her infallible. :)
