Just sitting here monitoring kids working on projects on the computers. They are making brochures about "teen issues" (we are reading the book Speak if anyone has read it- - deals with tons of teenager issues) using Microsoft Publsher. Most of them are probably surfing the net. Oh well. During a six hour class, they deserve to screw off some.
Still no word from Channon. She is on a drug bender at some camping/concert series. She went last year and told me about all these drugs she did. She invited me to go this year and I said um no, people on hard drugs freak me out... sorry. I guess I'm just resolving that the only way our friendship would work out is if it we were strictly just internet chat buddies. Part of me knew this all along and was sort of dreading her come to visit. (I live in California, she lives in Minnesota). We originally were friends in college at The University of Iowa but we had a falling out and only reconciled five years later over e-mail. But even talking now seems to not work since we are both upset about things the other said or did. Personally I owned up, but she didn't, and I don't really respect anyone that can't own up to their mistakes. She has always been of that mentality though where she thinks she can do no wrong, and she is always the victim.
Ben is still trying to decide if he wants Gill to move out here. Perhaps I should explain - - if he moves out here, he will be staying with us for a few months while he gets a job and finds a place of his own. I have agreed to this, and I am okay with it, I said it's up to Ben. Ben is worried that he may cause disruption in the home and come late and be loud and stuff. I said well he is your friend, and this is your decision. If he does come and stay with us, you'll just have to set ground rules - - that we're not in college anymore, and during the week we have to get up early so after 10 PM it's quiet time in our house. I go to bed earlier than Ben but he is always respectful and keeps the TV down or whatever he is doing down.
Last night we went over to our friends/acquantinances house. They gave us a futon they were wanting to get rid of. It's actually a nice one so we took it and put it in our office so we will have a place for visitors (or Gill if he comes) to sleep. The couple's names are Gamble and CeeCee - - they are super nice, and so NORMAL. We met them through P and OB, whom aren't exactly normal. I really like hanging out with P and OB although Ben and I think P talks behind everyone's backs when they aren't around and that she was mostly responsible for them stopping calling us. Anyway, we stayed and had a few beers with them and talked. CeeCee loves to cook so she said she'd invite us to their next dinner party. As we left Ben and I were talking about how it's funny how meeting "normal" people out here is so odd. ha ha...
Tonight is Shakespeare by the Sea. I'm so excited! I think I'm more excited than Ben but he is doing a good job acting like he is excited. Shakespeare by the Sea is a free event in Hermosa where they set up a big stage in the park by the ocean and a professional Shakespeare troupe comes and performs plays. You bring your own blankets, chairs, food, and wine, and get to enjoy a play by the sea for free! The price is right! There are two plays, we are going to the one tonight, Antony and Cleopatra. Tomorrow's is A Midsummer Night's Dream, I opted against that one because I've seen it a few times before and I don't find it all that amusing.
Anyway, here's to hoping I won't be hungover tomorrow. Shakespeare and wine go hand in hand! Either way it will be a fun date with Ben. |

I want to go!!!!! That sounds like so much fun! I am totally jealous.
I'm glad you met some "normal" people! And just forget about Channon. She doesn't sound like she is good for you at all!
Have fun tonight, and remember to drink a lot of water before you go to sleep so you won't be hung over!
