Have you ever really stopped and watched how people treat eachother? I see it when i drive, shop, and on and on. Everyone for themselves right? Isn't that what we're told to do because isn't everyone out to get us and make us miserable??
Not really.
It's all a matter of self-service and self-sustainment.
I think it's really sad when you stop and think it through and see it going on.
An old lady walking thru the store, walks too slow and is in the way, so we walk around them and scoff.
A small child who is whining and we cover our ears, shut them out, and complain.
A driver who just cut you off, so you cut them off, honk, and yell.
Someone at the store who has a wishy washy mind and hold up the line, so you tap your foot and with each tap your blood pressure climbs higher and higher.
So next time you're out and about or maybe just sitting at home, observing from your living room window, watch a minute and see what goes on. See how others treat others.
I know when i stopped and considered this, it made me think twice about my rushing around, always trying to be there on time (not a bad thing, to a point...) and trying to be the best and the first.
BUT as WITH everything, THERE'S a PRICE.
Do you know where i'm coming from? |

Yes, I see where you are coming from. The old "for everythihg we gain, we lose something". I too notice how people treat people, especially in restaurants. Sometimes couples sit through an entire meal without a word spoken. I hurt for them and I don't even know them. I do believe that people save their worst behavior for the people who love them most. I guess because we feel safe that they won't abandon us, we are secure enough to mistreat them. I don't know, but I have had the same thoughts as you.

Great post! Truly, we might well stop for a moment of introspection...

I've seen the whole 'distant couple' thing as well. Isn't it sad? In fact, i caught a husband and wife out for dinner, but instead of conversing and enjoying one another's company, they talked on their cell phones (?!) I figure that if you're out with someone, you're with them because you want to enjoy their company, not love up their cell phone. : /

I agree. We do need to take time to appriciate what we have and not take such advantage of all the wonderful opportunities we could be missing out on. It's great to do something out of the kindness of your heart *say hi to someone* *hold a door open* *ask someone how they're doing and listen* and then to see the smile you have brought them. That's priceless!
