| ROLE MODELS review |
I didn’t see it in the cinema, even tho I wanted to and now that I finally saw it I wished I did. Comedy viewers alike, I recommend ROLE MODELS a movie for you!!
RATE, COMMENT AND BEFIREND OR I EAT YOU!!!

Like many of the comedy movies circling around these days, there is a promise for non-stop laughs, sexual references and a chance of boobs. This movie, ROLE MODELS is no exception and will have any comedy lover in stitches.
Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Seann William Scott) are best friends who work as energy drink salesmen. Wheeler loves his job, loves life and can always find something positive in everything. Danny is the opposite. Danny hates his job, hates life and always finds the negative in everything. When Danny’s girlfriend (Elizabeth Banks) dumps him, Danny has a breakdown in the middle of a sales-pitch to a group of teenagers at a high school and results in driving their company car – shaped as a giant minotaur – but the rear of a horse statue. As a result they have two choices, go to jail for two months, or do over 100 hours of community service.
They take the community service option and enrol themselves in a big-brother-little-brother program called “sturdy wings”, run by ex addict/ex con Gail Sweeney (Jane Lynch). They are introduced to their new little-brothers, a foul mouthed African American kid named Ronny (Bobb'e J. Thompson) for Wheeler and a super nerdy Augie (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) for Danny. Starting off the two of them want nothing to do with their new “Littles” but as the movie progresses, they start to create a strong loving bond.
This movie has so many great moments, like when Augie introduces Danny to his fantasy-role-play-kingdom called LAIRE (Live Action Interactive Role-playing Explorers) and when Wheeler and Ronny find they both have something in common – their love for boobs. No character is funnier than another which makes this movie oh so good. You think one guy is the funniest and then another character will come in with an equally funny line and steal the show for the next few seconds, until it starts all over again. Each actor brings a different type of comedy to the table, so if you like foul mouthed humour, crude humour, subtle not-really-funny-more-than-nerdy comedy or just plain side splitting funniness than you’ve gotta see this movie.
And in addition to all this, the mix of background characters are just as funny as the main four characters themselves. Gail Sweeney (Lynch) is so hilarious when she uncomfortably mixes her work with her shifty past life, and Ken Jeong who plays the petty King Augtron in Augies role playing game makes you laugh, cringe and say “WTF?? WHY??”.
The last thing I have to commend them for is the fact the movie is very pro-nerd about the LAIREverse. It would have been very easy to alienate or talk down about the people who participate in LAIRE, but yet they seem to make it seem fun and entertaining, and say “leave them alone”.
So, in whole, there isnt many things I could say against this gem of a movie. Sure, I could have done with less boobs but its a R-Rated comedy so I cant do much about that. All the characters were excellent, and the actors who played them were well cast. The story and script make you laugh, feel sorry for the little kids and feel awkward when Gail Sweeny starts talking about her crack days and her dirty deeds with some judge.
I defiantly recommend ROLE MODELS for anyone and its a definite much watch for any comedy lovers – but I don’t recommend it for anyone under the age of 15.
RATING : (4.5/5)
