It is true.....Most people dont even use the degree that they graduate with.
I went to The Art Institute of Portland for almost 3 years and graduated with an Associates for Fashion Accessory Design. Ive always wanted to open my own boutique and sell my jewelry designs all around the world. Ive been doing a little bit of my jewelry business since Ive graduated but I just cant seem to get things really going. Ive only been graduated for about 4 months but I am started to feel a little worried. I cant even find a job anywhere. Right now I have a one day a week part time job that I have to drive 45 minutes to get to. Ive been looking every day for another job but NO LUCK. I can barely even sell my jewelry designs.
Everyone said that most the time you wont even get a job related to your degree after graduation but I am determined to do what I love. I love Art, and Fashion and I want to be in that industry. I want more than anything to get my own store going but its so hard to promote myself. I sometimes feel like my work isnt good enough for people, or good enough to mark up to the appropriate prices to actually make me money. Im in a big stump right now. Its depressing when you dont have any money, you cant do what you love (to make you money) and your living back with your parents because of it. Its so frustrating!
