| Monday Confession: I hate Christmas

Yep, Tis the season all right. Time to worship the North American God of Materialism! We start off by sharing memories of what Christmas(this is the day named in honor of the God of materialism) has done for us in the past. And what we get from Christmas in the future. Then we go out and find a pine tree altar to place in a spot of prominence in the house. Once we erect this altar, then we adorn it with tinsel and shiny balls and other ornanments. Then we talk about the Christmas spirit. This is often followed by leaving clevery disguised sacrifices at the altar.
This isn't an inherently religious rant. Nowwhere in this text will you find a call to move back to a christ centered day (for that alone entails the day was treated as such at some point) but rather just my frustrations at how much money we have especially in north america, and yet, there is so much poverty. We all walk by the homeless, daily or at least some point, and think, i can't afford to give. Yet, it's completely acceptable to go thousands in debt for one day? What's the point. We work jobs we don't like, to pay for things we can't afford, to impress people we don't like. Right. T'is the season indeed.
Happy Holidays! |

Not to mention the fact that people dont "give" during the season because they feel a calling to do so. They "give" becuase they feel pressure to, and they like telling people at the christmas parties how much they donated so they can get many praises for their egos.
I agree, I hate the medias ideals on christmas. I hate the buy buy buy buy and buy more mentality.
You are right on target brother. Couldnt have said it better myself.
