Hello. My name is Kaitlan. I am in Spanish class because there's a lot of mexicans in the United States and thay are a lot better to understand when you know Spanish. I took it last year too but I failed so I decided to take it again so I can get to Spanish 2. It's also mandatory to graduate high school so I really had no choice but to take some foreign language and I decided to take Spanish.
I decided to take Spanish because it will really help to understand all of the mexicans that live in my apartments. And it'll be fun to talk to my Mom in Spanish because she won't understand me and she'll get aggravated and it will be funny. My sister took Spanish for a while and she would always talk to us in Spanish and we wouldn't understand a word she said and it got really frustrating but now my sister's gone so there has to be somebody to take her place to annoy my mom.

My belief is that Spanish should be abolished from the school system. When us whiteys cater to the border-hoppers it kinda takes the sting out of the word "illegal", huh? *sigh* What a sad state America is in. At least we can rest easy knowing that all the effort isn't wasted when there's a million folks picking oranges...

I can't believe himaintenance's comment. I'm quite surprised and pleased that your high school has a foreign language as a mandatory subject in order to graduate; I think it's a wonderful thing. And it doesn't matter if you take Spanish, French or another language; the important thing is learning a new language. Not only does it improve your own understanding of grammar, but you also learn about other cultures. It's ignorant, arrogant, and close-minded to know and pretend to only speak one language.
