 Ready For Fall
I was born and raised in Louisville, KY and still love everything about this growing city that has a small town feel.  In a place where the summers are typically sweltering by August, we've had surprisingly mild temperatures.  It seems to have created a good attitude among the people in the city.  In a town where Southern hospitality already exists, people seem even more eager to greet you as you pass them on the street if the sun is shining and there's a warm breeze that day.
Even with the summer being as beautiful as it has been, I find myself longing for fall.  I'm already picturing the colors of the leaves as they change from green to red, orange, brown, and yellow.  I drive home with the windows down lately when it's nice out and I can already smell that distinct scent of burning leaves and cookouts wafting through the air.  The stores are packed with long sleeve shirts, sweaters, and jackets and I'm itching for it to be cool enough to wear them all.
When I was younger my family loved to go camping.  We would pull our pop-up camper to various KY campsites and spend long weekends hiking and roasting marshmallows over a campfire.  I loved the mornings when it was still cool enough outside that the fog hung over the ground.  On those trips mom would let us have a cup of coffee, filled with more cream and sugar than anything.  We'd sit outside the pop-up in the still of the morning and wait for the sun to come up.
There's something about those quiet mornings that's so peaceful.  It's that time of day when the only sounds present are cricket chirps, the crack of tree limbs falling, birds calling, and a nearby stream slowly flowing.  It's in those moments that my soul is refreshed.  Life is quiet enough to think.  It's still enough to allow the thoughts and words I need to hear from God to finally enter my mind and hit home.

Yes, I'm ready for fall.  What about you? What's your favorite thing about fall?
