| This Morning |
What an awesome way to start the day. I live in an apartment building and behind it is a stream with a little bridge that leads to a park. Every morning before work I take my dog, Digger, for a walk in the park. There are beavers in the stream and they love to take out some of the trees on the sides of the stream. This morning as I was crossing the bridge I heard a rustle in the leaves. Thinking it was a beaver I peered over the bridge to have a look see. There just below me was a deer. I've never been so close to one before. She was so started she started to climb up the hill then just stood and watched me. After a few seconds I carried on my way and her eyes didn't leave me. I was worried she'd continue up the hill and head out into the street. On my way back I was looking for her but she was no where to be seen. It was then I noticed a link fence on that side of the bridge so I was abit at ease. I do so hope she followed the stream and made it to the conservation area. As I was telling my boss about it he's telling me about a buck that was in the middle of the city heading towards the newspaper's front doors. Instead he detoured and not 10 min. later he said it was on the radio that the poor thing got hit by a car and was suffering. I hope the cops or someone got there fast enough to put the poor thing out of his misery.
I still smile each time I think of the one I saw. I sure wish I had my camera with me. It made my day!!!
