It rolled in swiftly and silently. Dark clouds from the North. The sky looked like an angry sea blacking out the sun. Only a small slither of gold lined the horizon. Thunder roared through our valley.
The winds picked up…knocking my fan from my window…blowing the roof of my dogs house off. It is a cheap plastic dog house with a snap on roof. I ran outside in the storm to rescue her. I snapped her house back together and she immediately sought refuge in the plastic haven.
I stood in the storm- just watching the angry sky. It was mesmerizing. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.
A friend at work had a tragedy this week. His daughter was in an accident. She is 29 and clinging to life. Critical condition- barely stable. Every morning he sends a fax into the office to let us know she made it through the night. If she had been standing 5 feet to the left- she would have been spared. But as fate would have it- she lies in a hospital bed clinging to life.
I can not imagine what it must be like- to sit and watch your child….counting each night they survive as a blessing. How the sleepless hours must drag on.
Storms roll into our lives swiftly. Often there is no warning. In a blink of an eye everything can change. Life and death can come down to a difference of 5 feet. I worry for my friend and his wife. I pray for his daughter.
