What is it about self sabotage?
Here's what I'm going through...
I'm supposed to go to Bikram yoga today (hot yoga)
But...it's snowing....
That would mean I would have to walk back home soaking wet (having spent and hour and a half sweating)
in the 20 degree slushy weather...
SEE! Even how I just discribed the situation right then...I'm making excuses so I don't have to go to yoga!
UGH!
And I Love Yoga.
Always feel great about myself after going...
but...
see! the ever ,annoyingly, present "but" rears its ugly head...
I sometimes do feel a bit flu-ish about three hours after.......ehh...
What I need is...
( are you listening universe?)
To genuinely have the impulse to do things
and accomplish things
because I love them, because I know that they are good for me, and I know that I need them..
Not because
I'm comparing myself to others, Or wanting to make them proud, or make a good impression...
It may be part of my first born personality.
All my childhood behavior was filtered through, "What will my Parents think?"
Which i guess came in handy...
I was a pretty Good kid...
But now, I'm left with a severe deficit in an ability to do the right things for me...
just for me.
Couple that, with a sort of "Bi-polar" self-esteem...
and you got trouble...
Well...
It's still snowing...
...I'm not going to yoga...
I'm gonna do a workout here, instead...
aaaand.....feel better?
man. I need to start taking some vitamin D...seriously.

I would not call it self sabotage, I would call it rational thinking.
You made a great decision by thinking it through. You did not make an excuse, no no no!... fortunately you did not make a hasty decisions, thats a good thing.
and think of all the people out there who look at you and see beauty inside and out...never compare yourself to anyone, you are unique. And the part where you say"( are you listening universe?) THE ANSWER IS THE UNIVERSE IS LISTENING!
To genuinely have the impulse to do things
and accomplish things
because I love them, because I know that they are good for me, and I know that I need them.." THAT SOUNDs ALOT LIKE PASSION TO ME, YOU NEED TO FIND YOUR PASSION AND YOUR PURPOSE AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS ALL YOUR DECISIONS WILL LEAD YOU TO YOUR GOALS, IT WILL BE AUTOMATIC. OCCASIONALLY, WE ALL HAVE TO FORCE OURSEVES TO DO SOME THINGS, THATS CALLED SELF DICLIPINE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE THAT TOO. You are way too hard on yourself, enjoy your life, and know you are truly a gift from God. Its so easy to give advice, isnt it? Now if only I was able to practice what I preach.

I agree with Roe. Never compare yourself and never torture yourself wondering what others think. Let them think what they will!
Where you are is where your meant to be though. Doesn't matter if that's in the yoga class, at home doing yoga, or trudging along in the freezing cold snow just knowing your gonna get that flu. Its where your meant to be.
Why are you meant to be there? Well now, only you can see what lessons are around for you to learn, dont you think? :)

I completely agree with Roe and scotslad too . Wow you have alot of passion. I run into so many people every day that do not have any passion or desire so they poke fun at my excitement but this is VERY refreshing to see somone who WANTS to accomplish stuff. so many people half-ass their way thru life and expect others to clean up their mess. So you're one of the few girlie!
here is my little bit of advice, even though u should stay rational and think things through, when it comes down to it do not second guess yourself. Do whatever u want to without anybody elses opinions affecting your decision.
something I learned about pleasing parents is that even if you rebel against them they always love you for making your own choices, even if they dont tell you. Its like a reflection of their parenting skills tells them that they raised someone who can take care of themselves if theyre not around forever.
and dont sweat the yoga thing everybody has their off days. :P

Who cares what others think. You need to do what is right for you!
I have done yoga on and off for years and it has kept me supple and so far I have not suffered the problems with joints and muscles that afflict some of my friends of similar age to me. I hope your yoga does the same for you.
