A Bald Man's Haircut
I came to this realization last week after my college professor entered our classroom and prepared for our daily lecture.

God bless him, but he, like many other men in the world, is a man whose noggin is follically-challenged. Yet, I still seemed to notice that, during our weekend rest, he had visited his barber.

It hit me that, growing up with a father whom I had never known with hair on his head, I was still always able to recognize when he had come home from getting whatever leftover fuzz he could find ,sheared off his shiny dome. And although there wasn't much work the barber could have done, I was always able to notice what a difference it made, and how handsome and proud he looked after doing so.

So, my observation is this: I find it funny how, no matter how sparse the hair on a man's head, you could always tell when he's gotten a haircut.

I'm picturing my father in law; he varies between being clean-bald and fuzzy bald, depending on how formal (or informal) the event is that brings us together. You're right, it is funny.

What's not funny is failing to notice when my wife gets 4 inches trimmed, and highlights touched up. My job is to notice before she brings it to my attention, and then tell her how nice it looks while she tells me how much she hates it and is never going back to that salon again. Like clockwork. Same salon for as long as I've known her... :)
