 Breed discrimination and BSL
Today my 2 rescued Pit bulls, Mel and Trina, and I went on a little trip to pet smart. While walking through the store a young boy pointed at my dogs and said "look at those puppies mommy!". The mother looked over and quickly rushed her son away like my dogs were barking and snarling trying to eat him. This was not the case what so ever. They were sitting politely at my side minding their manners with tails wagging and those trademark pitty smiles on their faces. This got me thinking, how could someone look at these cute smiling faces and treat them as if they were monsters?

Ohio is one of the worst states in which to own a pit bull, unfortunately this is the state i live in and the breed I chose. So many laws are being passed that make it so hard to own these wonderful dogs. They are the most loyal and loving pets I have ever had and i could never imagine being without one. We need to do all we can to change the image of these wonderful family pets. Of course they are being banned, peoples first reaction to something they're scared of is to get rid of it. The problem here is that there is no reason to be scared.

My male, Mel, is probably the sweetest dog you will ever meet. I adopted him from the rescue I volunteer with when he was about 2. He was neglected and never been in a house before when i got him. He also has a huge scar from the huge chain that his previous owners let grow into his neck. Through all of this he is still the most loyal and loving dog I have ever met. With a little training he has also turned into a wonderfully behaved dog. The only thing I can't fix is the fact that he loves to jump up and kiss everyone he meets in the face, but I guess I can live with that. Now if these dogs were truly the monsters they are made out to be this transformation would be impossible.

Other than my little Jack whom I blogged about we have Sugar and her personality is as sweet as her name. She is boston & pit. The lady online said she was boston/boxer she is for sure half pit no boxer.Very gentle, loving & devoted. But at the same time she will bite a stranger if they should come into the yard or house without being introduced. Our pets use the backyard for there buisness and exercise but are really house pets.Know one uses our back for an entry so I,m glad shes a watch/gaurd dog. We love her dearly. We also have a cat. Her name is Elvis couldnt leave out more of our pet kids.

People are crazy. Pitts are adorable and sweet. It's how you raise them... not the dogs themselves.
