Behind the bimah

I’m a clergy spouse & that leads to interesting (?) situations. It’s like being a politician’s wife. You live in a fish bowl which works both ways. I have a lot of people to support me, but I have no privacy!

Today’s post is on the head rabbi at my temple, I have a feeling a few posts may be on that topic!

I think he’s a terrible rabbi. But my husband is his colleague & I can’t say anything negative about him. My husband could get fired.
So I have two problems –
1. How do I deal with him on an ongoing-basis? I see him several times a week.
2. How do I separate my personal feelings when I’m in services, so I can enjoy services? (I do already fall asleep regularly during his sermons – they are long & boring!)

Any thought would be appreciated!

In my next post, I’ll talk about dealing with infertility issues in the public eye.
