 On the road!
Hi there SLCers!

Last week was a busy week indeed here at SLC! We had so much going on, I hardly know where to start. Well, that’s not exactly true. I should start with mention of our first ever 3 day Upper Teen trip to Massachusetts!

On Tuesday, a group of very tired (and some still multi colored from the previous day’s Olympics) teens boarded 3 busses and hit the road for three days of fun. Day one was a full day at Six Flags Over New England. We had thrills, we had chills and we had a blast.

After a well deserved sleep, our teens hit the road once again, destination: Boston! They arrived in the city and right away got to see all the sights courtesy of Boston Duck Tours. After the city tour it was lunch and a bit of shopping at Boston’s famous Quincy Market. Unfortunately, our time in the Public Garden was cancelled due to rain, but nobody minded spending a little extra time at Quincy. Next it was off to the Hard Rock Café for dinner followed by an evening of musical comedy at Boston’s longest running show, “Shear Madness”.

After one more much needed sleep, we boarded the busses and headed to historical Salem where our teens toured The Witch History Museum, The Witch Dungeon and the New England Pirate Museum. I have to admit that this was the part of the trip I was most jealous of… I am a total history nut!

Following a late lunch in Salem our crew once again boarded the busses and headed back to good old SLC. It was fun speaking with the teens and hearing their stories about the trip and seeing their souvenir purchases. It looks like our first ever 3 day trip was one to remember!

While our Upper Teens were busy in Massachusetts, the rest of camp was traveling too! The Lower teens went to Mountain Creek Water Park and the Seniors went to Lake Compounce. Mountainview’s trip to Quassy was delayed due to rain, but have no fear, they hit the road this week instead for their out of camp adventure!

It is hard to believe that the summer is coming to an end. Don’t think the fun is over yet though! We still have a full week ahead of us with lots of great stuff on the agenda. Also, don’t forget that if you and your family aren’t quite ready to say goodbye for the summer, we have two great chances for you to spend time at SLC! Labor Day weekend is our SLC Family Camp Weekend. Bring the whole family up and see why your kids have been having so much fun all summer. Also, on September 19th, SLC will hold its annual Family Rosh Ha Shannah Observance. The day begins at 9am with refreshments followed by a family friendly creative service at 9:45am. Following services there will be a wide variety of activities for both children and adults including a reflective nature walk, art projects, storytelling, group discussions, yoga and meditation and text study. And what would a Jewish Holiday be without a festive meal? For more information on either the Labor Day program or the Rosh Ha Shannah observance, please contact the camp office. We hope to see you there!
