| Labor Day Family Fun! |
Labor Day Weekend at Surprise Lake Camp was a truly amazing experience. Families came from all over to spend the last days of summer together in the sunshine at SLC. Yes, I said Sunshine! For despite our exceptionally wet and rainy summer, Labor Day Weekend brought us quite possibly the most beautiful weather of the entire season.
The hot ticket this weekend was definitely the waterfront. Between swimming, boating and the Burger Bounce, there was no shortage of fun to be had at the beach. Even just relaxing by the water with a good book brought smiles to lots of faces.
Don’t think the entire weekend was spent lounging on the sand. There was plenty to do for adults and kids both separately and together!
The adults had the opportunity to go on hikes to Hudson Overlook and Breakneck, try out the Jacob’s Ladder on the high ropes course, climb the climbing tower, take cooking lessons from Chef Dave, playing late night softball under the lights and even try some good old fashioned Arts and Crafts!
Meanwhile, the kids were busy going on a nature scavenger hunt, making ice cream, beading, playing gaga, climbing the climbing tower, playing bingo, singing songs and making edible Arts and Crafts!
When the families came together there were even more fun things to do. There was a family talent show, the SLC stock market game, a country fair complete with square dancing and a special family Havdallah followed by a bonfire with marshmallow roasting and lots of campfire songs!
If reading about all of this family fun makes you want to come back up to camp, don’t worry! There is still time to sign up to join us at our annual SLC Family Rosh Ha Shannah celebration on Saturday, September 19th. For more information, call the camp office at 212-924-3131.
