 Why Doors?
this is my first attempt to ever blog.  I am writing because of a recent fascination with a ritual that my family participated in for decades.  Did anyone else's family record the heights of family members on a door in their family home?

When I sold my home of 20 years I found i could not part with the door that was covered with 20 years of measurement.  each childs height was periodically recorded, in pencil.  A horizontal line was drawn with child's name and date.  They would eagerly line up to see how much they had grown since the last time.  The lines for Mom and Dad seemed to hover way above all the other lines until puberty when my son's both grew well over 6 feet tall.

I also found a door at a friends summer home that recorded decades of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and possibly even great great grandchildren.  The earliest recorded date was in 1948.  If you have a memory please leave a comment.  A picture would be greatly appreciated.  There must be some interesting stories.

This could an amazing art project! Thanks for your time.
