New topic! and new member! http://www.thoughts.com/K3K3_Couture
Is that four now? Wow :) lol
Anyway the topic is Your Most Embarrassing Moment. Which I can do now because I'm going to show you my "mothers" story.. Its more of an draft of a idea then a story.. and it sucks.. *sigh* I need an editor, or at least a spell checker (some times I hate Apple!).
Well any way, with out further ado.. DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME!
I don’t have a mother, I have five. My situation- or rather everyone here at Redcroft’s situation- would most likely seem a strange one to a different culture, or kingdom but we were brought up with it, and saw nothing at all odd about it. It was simply the fairest way to choose the next King or Queen of Gardian, a kingdom prided for its fairness. It started the very day of the current King or Queens coordination, woman from and all three parts of Gardian were found who were pregnant and had conceived at the same time. They were brought to the coordination and informed personally by the King or Queen that inside them there would be a candidate for the next King or Queen. The women would be taken from their husbands and family’s for the entire rearing of their child, though women who already had children were never taken. No one ever refused, for who would? A chance that a child from their own womb would be the next King or Queen of the great kingdom Gardian was to much to give up. Not to mention that their family’s where generously provided for the rest of their lives. For six months in their pregnancy the women were allowed to stay with their family but in the seventh month they were taken to Redcroft, the biggest and most important place in Gardian second only to the Kings or Queens own castle. There they would stay for 16 years (the age when the new King or Queen could be chosen) of course their family visited but for some it was a long journey and visits were rare. Finally when the time came for the babies to be born all the woman where put into separate rooms with the best healers and midwifes in the kingdom till each one had given birth. When they gave birth the babies were immediately taken away before the mother could even see their gender, and given one of the other woman’s baby to feed. This way none of the woman knew which was their own child and there was no way to find out for sure. This was done so that all the woman would bring up each child as their own and teach them each everything they knew, for all the 16 years they would be together. On the 3rd month after all the babies had been born there was a great celebration and christianing for all the babies, in our case there where 5 babies and 5 Mothers and at the our chirstianing Queen Vishi the ruler of that time named us, Rose, Luna, Gimgi, Reiro, and me, Sel. We were brought before the nation that day, and all of Gardian knew us. Each section of Gardian had their own favorite to be the next king or queen and it was a small comfort in the days to come for each of us to know that some one some where was cheering us on. For our learning started the day we were weaned to make us the very best in every possible way. We were taught not only our home lands language but also our nearest neighbors. All of us were taught to read by the age of five and to write in both languages by six. We started daily lessons at the age of seven with a wide range of topics required to befit a ruler. We also learned how to handle a sword from our guards and how to cook from our Mother Tabetha (who had been an tavern keeper, and declared it to be a much needed skill, even for a king or queen) regardless of our gender. Indeed as our etiquette teacher Mother Troth (she was a baroness) loved to say “When you sit in the rulers chair with a crown upon your head, you are a ruler and not a woman or a man anymore.” She usually said this if Gimgi or Reiro ever declared that men had no need for manners, which they did when ever Mother Troth forced us to shorten swordplay for etiquette. If all of this makes it sound like we had a hard childhood then I’m sorry, for that was not the case at all. Though we were in all intents and purposes royalty, our Mother’s were not. Mother Kate (a “simple peasant” as she liked calling herself), Mother Lily (another peasant though she did not enjoy it quite as much), Mother Freda (A midwife by profession), Mother Tabetha and even Mother Troth believed that children's play was as important as studying.
And thats where I stop to wonder why I'm so bad.. what evs
