 Morgan's Update
My sister has a lot of medical disorders that she deals with. They would be manageable except for the fact that her mental disabilities get in the way. She's not retarded or anything, but she is handicaped. On this past New Year's Eve, she was admitted to the hospital for her diabetes. Her keytone levels were at 4.5. (when most people hit 3.0 they slip into a coma.) Keytones are chemicals produced by the body when the glucose levels in your blood are too low. They kill many diabetics.

She was in the hospital for about a week. The first night was so scary. I actually got a call from my parents who were at the hospital (They wouldn't let me come along.) saying that they didn't think Morgan would survive the night. Her kidneys started shutting down. Her liver was extremely enlarged and enflamed. Her heart sustained some pretty serious trauma too. She was slipping into a coma when she first arived.

Finally, on her third day in, she stablized. They kept her there for a while longer, but she got to come home soon after. A couple weeks after she was discharged, she was admitted to a Primary Children's mental health center. They take kids who are chronically ill and help them get there sicknesses under control. They do so by adressing the mental emotional problems that usually come with it.

She isn't allowed to see or contact friends in any way. She isn't allowed to leave the building. Only when she has done something very good do they let us (her immediate family) take her somewhere for a couple hours.

I'm worried about her. She has always struggled with depression and since she's been in there it's gotten very bad. In the past couple weeks she's gained more than 20 lbs. because of the insulin she's taking. Before she was regularly doing shots she could eat whatever she wanted and not gain weight, so now that she's taking her insulin, it's getting pretty bad.

I do have some good news though! Her anxiety disorder is becoming a little more bearable for her now. She's on a new medication that's helping her alot. Hey anxiety disorder controlsĀ her whole life. There's something wrong with her brain and she can't reason the way normal people can. You might know that the sun will never drop out of the sky and burn you and all your loved ones to death, but her brain can't make that connection. It's really sad. She hilusinates constantly too. She sees the things that scare her most. They touch her and talk to her.

I'm glad the new medication is starting to help her out.

Well that's it for now. I'll keep writing updates until she can come home again.

Thank you for reading. I would be extremely grateful for any prayers.

P.S.- It sounds like i'm complaining, but I'm not trying to. One of my friends told me that I should start keeping a journal about her to help me handle this. So I decided to try it.

Both my sisters have alot of mental health issues. I am glad that your parents are helping her and not ignoring and it seems that you are dealing with it well. If you need someone to talk to hit me up. Both of my sisters have been in and out of "mental health clinics" for the past 2 years... I know what it's like.
