If I had a tail to wag...
I am a dog person.

That does not mean that I don’t like cats; I have actually become quite fond of them over the past few years…

But as for me and my house…we are dog.

I have two four legged kids at home and both of them are getting up there in years: one 11 and the other 15.   Having senior dogs teaches you patience, that is something that I have found to be very true.

I am somewhat ashamed to say that sometimes I prefer the company of my furry friends to humans. Both of them were sick this week, with one surgery. That gave me ample time to think about what my life will be like without them one day.   Not something I like to think about.

Keysh, my Shar Pei is 15 years old and has been my best friend for years. Hobo is a Pomeranian that came to me as a foster, and then became part of the family. Through the wonderful experience of living with them, I have known unconditional love. It’s so amazing. They are fascinated with love for us. As I go about my normal tasks of the day; there are always eight paws nearby; watching, and as I like to think, sometimes fondly.   My mom bought me a coffee table book for Christmas, which is photographs of dogs over the age of 10.  It is such a beautiful book!  Older dogs are just such amazing characters.

I have been so lucky to be blessed as a dog person. I have to say, I sure do get a kick out of my friends’ cats, so I hope to someday have the full appreciation of cat as well. I have to say though, I do catch my brother’s cat looking at me quite often, but I think he is just plotting my death.

Surgery went well and Hobo is recovering nicely!

What's nice about cats is that most I have known dont require much care:P They tend themselves and dont ruin the house when they can't get out. And, so much quieter!:P

But, yes, dogs can be very loveable...just bigger messes:P

You talk about old dogs like you were housing a grandparent:P I dont want to focus on a dog dying...I want to capture the memories, remember the good times with photos and smiles...and then give them a nice rest so I dont have to face the surgeries...the fur loss...the blindness...the worms...the tumors...

Oh, and pug, husky/samoyed(or samoyan) are my prefered dog types.

I like russian blue cats and white "persians"(the big white fluffy ones) particularly...but I havent spent much time with cats yet.
