Drive in Comfort, Block a Rebel
Driving on the freeway, interstate, or multi-lane highway in America has become far too routine. The techniques employed by early-starters do not account for the off-crowd, who want to drive faster than, let's say, the ultra-early AM commuters. In order to preserve their order in the universe, these go-to-work drivers have, in fact, made their cars into physical moving speed-limit signs.

These cumbersome signs come in pairs, trios, quartets, or packs of five or six. They have thousands of hours of practice moving in these formations.Taking turns, one driver will remain slightly ahead of the other car(s), or another driver will move up in the group to assume the lead spot for a time. What they won't do is change lanes.

For debate's sake, let's say they are in combat. The war is with any car, truck, or SUV, which comes along at a higher rate of speed. If he approaches slowly enough, the commuters may reluctantly detach their formation just enough to let the fly-by-night navigator squeeze thru and continue on with his or her speed limit busting aero dynamics. In essence, those commuters have formed a defensive position, guarding against oncoming Porsches, Mustang's, Caddy's, and Infiniti's.

I know these statements to be very accurate and have seen it countless times on the freeway. People purposely blocking all lanes so that speeders won't get thru without a fight. Are these groups of cars batallions? Do they think themselves righteous vigilantes, keeping the highways safe from excessive high-speed crashes? Or do they just want to annoy someone, who solely wants to go at a faster speed? They won't budge, unless it is done on their terms! Not an inch.

Could this be one of the unspoken reasons why the faster drivers own heavier than average vehicles, in a hope, that their size and weight will somehow open up the steel trap doors more quickly? I tell you, it will not happen. The pack drivers are dead-set in their resolve. They will whisper justifications to themselves, saying, "If I let these speeders by unimpeded, the freeway will forevermore become chaotic." These rolling convoys contain drivers with no faith whatsoever.

If you are one of these bottleneck drivers and realize now the sinister nature of your game, please break free from your formation five or six seconds earlier and let faster cars go thru without a big hassle. Thank you.

Keep your comfort, but allow room to pass or move aside earlier, because faster drivers aren't always rebels.
