Perhaps when people say “I just want you to be happy,” they are really saying “What will it take for you to be happy.”
Perhaps that is supposed to get you thinking about what it will take for you to be happy in every moment.
When you only focus on one area that you can fulfill your happiness then you will be like my first quadrant. If you focus on only a few then you will be like my second quadrant – taking the long path to happiness. If you focus on many then you will be more diverse, balanced, structured. If you focus on every moment with equal care the more like my fourth quadrant you will be.
The more parts of your life you ask yourself, “What will it take for me to be happy in this situation?” the more balanced you will be, and the more honest you will be, the more uncompromising you will be, the stronger you will be, the funnier you will be, the more sensitive you will be, the more resilient you will be.
Now replace happy with anything; successful, prosperous, wealthy, poor, loser, geek, athlete, professional, cool, charismatic, insecure, sexy, funny, a good friend, a good parent, a good salesman, a good teacher, etc.
The combinations are endless.
