 You Lie! said Joe Wilson
Did any of you watch Obama's speech on TV the other night? If you did, then you obviously heard Rep. Joe Wilson yell "You lie!" when Obama said something about his health care plan. Okay I'm sorry but that is just so freakin' disrespectful of him! OBAMA IS THE PRESIDENT AND NO ONE CAN CHANGE THAT!!!! Okay you don't have to support or like him but you need to treat him like the person he is!!! Imagine he was a teacher you didn't like that just gave you homework you didn't want to do. So what? Do you just yell something out in front of the whole class? I sure hope you wouldn't. I've never heard of so much disrespect to a president. JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE AND LET HIM DO HIS FREAKING JOB!!! No one is giving him a chance. They shut him down before even really considering his ideas. And hey, maybe some of his ideas would've actually worked out in the end but in some cases no one will ever know will they? People just need to stop being so stubborn and open up their minds a little more in this crisis situation. Such a strong resistance to everything that comes out of the man who's trying to get us out of this' mouth can't be helping this at all. How's he supposed to do anything to help us if every idea of his is turned down by some close-minded people representing us in Congress? How's he supposed to do anything if people get together and interrupt important meetings of his? How's he supposed to do anything when the media over-reacts and stretches the truth about everything he does.  Ugh! This whole thing is just disgusting. Was George W. Bush treated nearly as bad as this? No, and Obama is a much better president than he was! And maybe he'll be better if everyone gave him that opportunity. Get what I'm sayin'?

P.S. This post is purely just about the terrible disrespect Obama is getting. I'm not trying to down-talk anyone that disagrees with him, just those that show this disagreement in a way, way, way beyond rude way. Some people are being so childlike and need to learn to control themselves. If I were a Republican I might just post this same message.... you never know.

When did he call Sr. a liar? I thought he wasn't in national politics during Sr.'s term.
... as I said below, calling the president a liar and much worse is a time honored tradition that dates back to the 18th century, TV just makes it less savory by broadcasting them acting out in real time and then over and over and over.

There is not proof that Obama called Bush a liar in front of everyone is there? Bush did lie. 9/11 was caused by the Taliban, not Iraq.

Bush never said Iraq launched the attacks on 9/11, he said they had unaccounted for WMDs (they didn't have them but they were unaccounted for; heck maybe they did and we still can't find them, try looking for stuff in a desert sometime.) he also said that Saddam was financing suicide bombers and had fiscal ties to Al Queda. Iraq violated a UN resolution that gave war as a punitive option. Bush lobbied for and obtained from a diverse Congress an Act of War. The WMDs not found, the financial ties to Al Queda not verifiable (asserted on film by many Iraqis) but, the financing of suicide bombers through Hammas is well documented.

I'm not saying Bush wasn't a liar he was after all a politician, but he wasn't lying about the validity of our reasons for invading Iraq, he may have been over anxious for war (probably was) but, it was not without it proper justification, the oil issue is preposterous, if we'd gone to war for oil Petrol wouldn't be 25-50 cents per gallon in Iraq and $2.50 and up in the US and higher still in Britain. I am certain that the real reason we chose to invade Iraq was to have bases surrounding the newest emerging nuclear power Iran.

Why Iran and not N Korea? iran can afford to enrich uranium 24 hours a day in 1600 centrifuges across the nation. N Korea can't afford to keep 1 centrifuge running long enough to enrich enough uranium to generate a blast discernable from conventional explosives. With that in mind Iran is a threat worthy of serious attention and N Korea is comfortably left to the Chinese, S Koreans, & Japanese to deal with.

It's sad that the liberation of Iraq was just a byproduct not the intent but, even in our Civil War in the US the end of slavery was just a byproduct and not the reason for war.

Actually someone can change the fact that Obama is the president.
Assassination would certainly change that fact ( I do not advocate this. )
Impeachment can lead to his removal as well ( nor do I advocate this. )
Calling the president a liar is a long tradition that goes back to the 18th century and George Washington.
Doing so in Congress is far from uncommon, TV has made it less savory as people can watch them act like spoiled children on a prep school playground.
Um W. was called idiot and retarded even though he had a GPA similar to the person making said claims, Kerry, from the same University at the same time. Countless "Peace Advocates" called for his death, impeachment, and imprisonment. So the assertion that W. was treated with more respect than Obama is patently without any substance.
Last the Democrats hold unbeatable majorities in both Senate & House so the Republicans can't even effectively slow down anything that the Democrats actually wanted to push through. That sparks the question why don't the Democrats want Healthcare Reform or Campaign Finance Reform, even though these are core planks in their platform or is it because they are key planks which couldn't be easily replaced if they were nullified by becoming reality... or would they offend their money base and lose funding for future elections?
My point is that no matter how noisy they become Republicans can't effect any legislation at this time as long as the Democrats act in unison, so why don't we have flood of new legislation that we were promised?

BTW it's not the president's job to initiate legislation but, rather to sign it if he feels it's not contrary to the nation's best interest or the Constitution. I don't want a Lawyer to design my Healthcare system, I'd rather it be done by say maybe doctors and those involved in charitable services as they have the best knowledge of what is most important and how best to provide the best services at the lowest costs. Military doctors and administrators also have a lot to contribute as they've been providing every serviceman with medical treatment from triage to preventative care in harm's way and at home bases. What do Congressmen know about the needs of average people, they are almost to the man millionaires & there are no Senators who aren't millionaires (which brings the question why do they ever need a raise in salary?), sure I'd love the coverage they can afford but, they don't plan to share their level of coverage so do we trust them to decide what's good enough for the rest of us? I don't think so, look at the budget they gave the Vet Admin if you don't doubt their sincerity.

Munkyman, Democrats do control. Time for Obama to do what he promised and stop waiting on the Republicans. Republicans don't care about healthcare because their view is the Rich gets richer and the Poor gets nothing.

That was my point the Republicans in a similar position in Congress with a Democrat for President fulfilled their "Contract with America" so WTF is wrong with the Democrats? My answer is they don't wanna do it just talk about it. I personally think Jefferson would be appalled at his current legacy in the creation of the Democratic Party.

Hate to tell you this but the Democrats don't care about it beyond it's use in their platform (can't sell the plank you're standing on), the Democrat Congressmen are just about as rich and unconcerned as the Republican ones. If they fix healthcare what will be next term's mantra? "Hey we're Democrats and we raised your taxes and gave you everything we promised so you have no need to vote for us again, um oops, that's please vote for us again." I have been long suspicious that the 2 party system is broken as the 2 parties are in collusion. The rich getting richer is a common theme between the parties Al Gore started advocating Carbon Credits, admirable eco-friendly concern. Right? Wrong! He had just started a corporation that sold Carbon Credits based on poor statistics so it wasn't even selling valid credits but rather sanctioning increased pollution. The rich almost all want to be richer (I'm far from rich and I wanna be richer too.) and only a couple Congressmen aren't millionaires, do the math.
