| Eighth Grade!!! |
Just this past week I started school again. Eighth grade. Okay I really don't feel like an eighth grader!!!! I mean seriously last year the eighth graders looked so old like they could be sophomores or something!!! But last year was so different and like nothing I'd experienced before.... but it was a lot of fun too!!! I guess now I just can't imagine another year like that. It's weird.
If you've read any of my other blogs, you know about my neighbor Lauren...? Well she's at my school now too, and I seriously don't know what the people in my grade think when they see me hanging out with a bunch of scrubs (Lauren's friends hang out with us too)..... LOLZ Anyway, Lauren was all upset because she wanted to get all women teachers and she got like three men. And it was like, "What the heck??? You can't say you went to junior high and no guy teachers!!!" But I think she needs to open up her mind a little bit more. I mean, no kidding, the majority of my favorite teachers have been dudes!!!
Anyway, I haven't started much in my classes yet but because I'm sure you care so much, I'll tell you about them.
- History- Okay I knew this was going to happen to me..... I just knew it. My history teacher is also my neighbor's mom. My neighbor is an adult so she doesn't live with her mom anymore but still, now I'll see my history teacher every time she comes to visit her daughter! But it might have certain advantages..... Okay so I don't know if the whole eighth grade history team does this or if it's just my teacher but there is soooo much homework and it makes me depressed to think about that. (I mean seriously, why does life have to involve SO much work???) Anyway, I feel like knocking on my neighbor's door and saying, "Hey! Tell your mom to lay off on the homework would ya!?"
- Microsoft Office- Same as last year. We're learning how to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint except it's a little different because I guess it's a newer version. But it's the same basic concepts. And my teacher is pretty nice if you're following directions... Oh yeah and this year I'm not his helper. I'm actually sitting right next to the person that is. But it's weird because if I do something on my computer I'm expecting it to show on the big screen like last year. And sometimes it freaks me out if I move my arrow around and the one on the projector screen doesn't move at all!!!
- Algebra 1- Well it seems easy now but we're just doing review so I'm not sure what to say about the subject. But I'll talk about my teacher. Um yeah, he's nice. But he's also kind of weird because he talks kinda softly and kinda slowly too, like he constantly forgets what he's going to say or something. But I think I'll like him. Oh yeah, and I really like my classroom because it's upstairs and I've never had an upstairs class before!
- P.E.- Well, you know P.E. A lot of sports I'll suck at, ugly uniforms that don't fit me, running, stretching, working upper body strength I don't have much of..... and so on and so forth. But I got the same teacher I had last year and I'm glad because I already know her and according to people she's the least strict or something.
- Science- This year it's physical science which seems kind of hard because there are lots of formulas and math involved. And it's going to be weird (and dangerous) conducting experiments with all kinds of chemicals and stuff. Ugh. So anyway my original teacher is on maternity leave for awhile so we have a long term sub. The sub is really nice though and I kinda wish she was the teacher. But, hey, the original teacher could be just as nice, so I shouldn't say anything yet....
- English- Last year, soooo boring. This year, very fun!!! Okay I know we haven't started anything yet except for writing one essay, and English is still English, but my teacher is da bomb. He's hilarious!!!! He's one of the jokesters of the school (my art teacher last year is one too), and he's not afraid to act kind of immature. Like he laughs with the class about things that normal teachers would not laugh at (like yesterday some kid's fly was down and another kid pointed it out and the whole class just cracked up including him!!!). That's another thing. He's not afraid to crack to crack up in front of us. Most teachers would try not to cuz then they'd get the class riled up... but not this guy. (Gosh, I gotta write a blog just about English yesterday cuz it's going to take way too long to put everything on here!) Oh yeah and it's his tradition every year to make a funny face in the yearbook because he says he realizes he's not attractive and once you realize that you can do anything you want. Sometimes I wish I could just video tape every class period because you don't truly get the whole experience through words and of course everything would be a lot funnier on a video. Then I could put it on YouTube and make a hit out of it!!! LOLZ Yeah, I think I'm really going to like English this year.
Well, that's it for now. I'll update later in the year when things start happening in my classes instead of just talking about rules/procedures or doing review. And I'm not kidding you're going to want to read my blog about English if I make one. You're not going to believe that it's actually school!!! LOLZ..... later!!!
