This vibrant young women
had a devoted following who
laughed and cried by her side
as she blogged about her journey
into
the unknown and dreaded world of the cancer patient
many of her new thoughts.com family
virtually held her hand
every step of the way
always by her side
offering friendship and prayers as well as support
while she courageously battled this dreaded disease
with an unwavering and uncany sense of humor
Erika did everything she possiblly could
no matter what obstacles or disappointments she faced
no matter how much pain she was forced to endure
her strong will always prevailed
This loving human being
never took a single day for granted
or lost faith
often times
sharing
valuable insights
she had gained during her brave journey!

she so loved her husband, family and friends
and she adored her 1st grade students
the world is a better place because she was here
if only a short time
her beautiful spirit

God gets an angel
Erika Meyer died of cardiac arrest at 4am on November 1st surrounded by love from her husband Andrew, Mother Laura, Brother Evan, sister-in-law Michelle, and parent-in-laws Doug and Chris.
Her death was caused by a combination of cancer, lung failure, and heart failure. A bowel blockage in her intestines created by the cancer stopped food digestion and resulted in the build-up of gas in her stomach. This build-up of gas created pressure on her lungs reducing oxygen intake and ultimately causing cardiac arrest.
Erika was the most beautiful and charismatic person I have ever known. She loved everyone and lived every moment to the fullest. When faced with the daunting diagnosis of cancer she did not run and hide but took it head on and created a blog to inform others of her progress. She loved reading comments posted on this blog and insisted in posting a blog whenever possible. Thank you for all of your support and kind thoughts.
Today God has one more angel helping him and I know she looks down on all of us with the same love and smile that brightened my day every day.
