How can we as humans be so cruel as to hurt another living creature? I'm not going against the occasional flick on the nose or something, but how can we just go around hitting, kicking, or neglecting our pets? Yeah, sure, man is supposedly the "superior" species of the planet, and we have the advantage of opposable thumbs, but do we really need to hit them? Do we really need to hurt something to feel powerful? Have you ever seen a neglected animal? Did you feel powerful, or just sick to your stomach? Some animals are left behind and forgotten when their owners move or die, and some are ignored and starved, while others are beaten- sometimes to death. They are skinny to the point where you can see their ribs, they have wounds all over their bodies, and it ties my stomach in knots and shoves it into my throat at the thought that people that do this to animals could live as close as the next door over.
Do you know that baby elephants can walk as soon as they are born, just in case there is danger near, while a human baby can't even lift their heads for at least three months after they are born? How helpless does that make you feel?
So the next time you see an animal being hurt or neglected, give your voice to those who can't speak for themselves. You could help put a stop to animal cruelty.
