| Steve Irwin (the Crocodile Hunter) and My son. |
|
I grew up always loving and caring for animals. I loved Steve Irwin and his passion for animals and life. My dad let me stay up late when I was really young so I could see Steve Irwin on Jay Leno. He taught me so much, not only facts about animals, but to respect and preserve wildlife.
When I was pregnant with our second son, my husband and I could not agree on a name. He didn't like any name but one he had in mind. I was about 4 or 5 months along when the great Steve Irwin passed away. I couldn't believe it. I asked my husband if we could name our boy Stephen after this wonderful man. He likes Steve Irwin too and he agreed on the name. Steve Irwin's name is actually Stephen, so we thought that was a plus because we wanted that spelling.
Even though this was my second baby, my labor was terribly LONG. I was hoping to have him out by 9pm at the latest on February 21st. He arrived shortly after 12AM on February 22nd. The nurses were saying he was holding on for that 2-22 date. Months later, my husband read something about Steve Irwin and saw his birthday was February 22nd. He was shocked and called me up. Seriously, out of 12 months of the year, I couldn't even guess the Crocodile Hunter's birthday. We didn't even dream of it being near my due date. After learning that fact, I couldn't help but think. No, Stephen wasn't hanging on for the date 2-22. The late Steve Irwin must've been in heaven, saying, "wait just a little longer, mate. Then you'll be born on my birthday!"
SO, it is FEBRUARY 22nd.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE STEPHEN!!!
AND
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE IRWIN.
Terri, we're thinking of you and we love your little family. Thank you for sharing your husband with the world. His memory will live on forever.
