 Death Row
So, today Joseph Duncan has been sentenced to death. But what does that really mean? It means that we the tax payers will be paying for his private room on death row. There has not been an execution in Idaho since 1994, and there are 19 inmates, now 20 with Duncan, waiting for execution. Why are we paying for these killers to live quietly in their privacy for years? Of course Duncan has admitted to raping, torturing and killing Dylan Groene, and Kidnapping and torturing his sister Shasta. As well as admitting to also killing two young Washington State girls, and a boy from Southern California. Not to mention his brutal killings at the Groene home of the family there. Something is wrong with our judicial system that we are stuck paying for these monsters to live year after year at our expense after they have been sentenced to death for the crimes they commited. It was even mentioned in court for Duncan that he is a threat to those in the prison since he is such a manipulating and premeditating man. We the citizens need to start demanding our rights to not have to support these types of monsters year after year in prison. If they are sentenced to death, they should of course have a chance to appeal, but for how long? I beleive there needs to be a limit on appeals, let them have two years or whatever to make a case for appeals, and if there is no new evidence then execute them. This is nonsense that we continue to pay for these inmates to live in comfort that was not afforded their victims due to their actions.

To those who oppose the death penalty feeling it is cruel and unusual punishment I invite them to read the things that Joseph Duncan did to his vicitms. His viscous beatings of Slade Groene, Brenda Gorene and Mark McKenzie were cruel. His murders of the two young Washington state girls were cruel. I am sure his murder of the young California boy was cruel as well. His treatment Of Dylan Groene was beyond cruel, it was premeditated, horrendous, and something no child, nor their family should ever have to experience. Joseph Duncan has no rights to any better treament at this point than what he placed upon his many victims.
