 God...I don't Believe

First off...I'm not a "devil worshiper" or anything like that. I live a "Right & Wrong" kind of life. I don't hate you for believing, so don't hate me for not. I know this is a touchy subject, please don't let anything I say offend you, these are my opinions.

So this morning I was in my living room playing with my dog when someone came POUNDING in my door like my Mom does when she wakes me up. (Which is like the police being there trying to actually pound the door down for a drug bust or somthing!) So my dog (Dozer) goes CRAZY barking, and I'm feelin like "This is embarassing!", so anyway I open the door and there's two women standing there. One, and old white lady with poofy grey hair and glasses wearing a dress and the other a younger black woman wearing a white T-Shirt and jeans. I felt like my space was being invaded because they were standing so close to the door I couldn't even step out. I had to pretty much push myself through them to shut the door because I didn't want my dog getting out and biting them or something. So anyway the older lady started talking to me about God and about demons. She also told me that the devil uses temtations like a fisherman uses a hook and worm to lure the fish. So she goes on about this for a while and then starts talking about marriges and at this time I am not listening because I simply don't care, I'm not married. So she hands me some pamphlets and then asks what church I go to, assuming I go to church. I told her I didn't attend any. She looked at me like I was disgusting and that I was some kind of animal. Like how in the world does someone not attend church!!!?? Well after I told her I didn't attend one she asked why. I told her I would rather not talk about it, and that I had things I needed to get done. It was like she ignored or didn't give a shit if I had things I had to do, and kept asking me questions about WHY I didn't go to church. Seriously, this lady was creeping me out, and scaring me a little. I told her that I had my own reasons for not going to church and that she would have to excuse me because I had to go. So I pretty much shut the door in her face because she wouldn't leave me alone. After she was gone and it was safe to go outside, I walked out onto the porch and found four pamphlets. Not one, not two, but FOUR of them. All different, all about the devil and demons. I don't get it. So because I don't go to church I'm some kind of devil person?

Here's why I don't believe in God:
What person that's alive can tell me that he's real? No one. Why? Because you have to die to meet him right? Well, no one has died, met him and came back to tell everyone, and show us pictures! I think that it's a fairy-tale so that people wont be afraid to die and so that they have something can follow a set of rules to make them a better person. No one actually knows what their talking about when it comes to God. No one has met him or had him tell them anything. So how do you sit and preach about words of God and things in the bible when the bible was probably made up? Whos to say that the bible is real? Whos to say God is real? I don't hate people who believe, I don't think they're stupid or anything like that. I just don't get it. But I live my life by what's right and what's wrong. That makes me who I am. And who taught me that? My parents. So I believe in my parents I guess. I don't have to go to church or believe in God to be a good person. I AM a good person, I've made mistakes, but who hasn't. And I also think that the people who do go to church and who are "bible thumpers" are hypocrits and they're really judgmental. I think church is in a way some kind of cult. You don't believe, some people hate you. If you don't go by their rules, they hate you. It's like if you don't belive in God then you don't deserve the time of day, and do you really deserve to live? YES. It's just that it all seems so impossible and is hard for me to wrap my brain around. I've even tried haveing people explain it to me, but nothing. I don't understand, at all. Yes it's true that believing helps people and really does make some people a better person. But would it be ok for me to go to random strangers houses in the morning pounding on their doors asking them why they go to church? Asking them if they would STOP believing or STOP going to church? NO. Not at all. I honestly felt like the old lady was going to whip out a knive and stab my in the heart, or sprinkle some kind of holy water on me. She gave me the look of the of the "devil" and made me feel really uneasy around her. Now are THOSE the kind of people that should be going door to door trying to get more people to come to her church? Probably not. Maybe next time they should send out a little old lady that's NICE about it and doesn't creep people out. I know I'm a good person, and I know right from wrong, so isn't that good enough for all the God believers? Does me not believing in God make me less of a person? I just wish that I didn't have to feel like "Well they'll think I worship the devil or something if I don't believe in God..." when telling someone I don't believe. My point is, I couldn't tell her that I didn't believe because of how she made me feel before she even spoke to me. Are all church people like that? And why are they if they are? Don't you want to send a good message to people that don't go to church, to try and get them to? Anyway I let that out so now I feel better.
Take Care! =)

First of all, I sorry that you got the thought that you're the devil by this lady. In my opinion I think somethings greater exist then us and call it what you will. If you know that your a good person who has the right to tell you otherwise. I hate when people force their beliefs on others because it gives any religion bad image. This happened to me once and I actually listened and then I sat the lady down and told her my beliefs and blocked her from leaving. I think I scared her to the point she didn't even leave any pamphlets. Sometimes you just need to give them a taste of their own medicine. It's okay to have your own opinions and views even when its regarding religion your never less of a person for believing what you think is right. Take care and maybe next time just fill a supersoaker with some holy water and bless her and yell out " just exercise the demons" I bet it will put a smile on your face. Just have fun and survive the life you got.

I love your approach. I understand what you mean. My parents are Christian and avid church-goers. I attend church beacause not only am I a minor and live under their roof, it is to please them and keep their mouths shut. I believe that Chritianity was invented with a good intention. Invented as a set of guidlines for "civilised" people to follow. But now, Christian churches are trying to desroy all other religions, because Christianinty in the begining went out of control. All gods are one God. Male and Female. Well, that's my opinion, at least. Every person is entitled to their own. I love how you describe Christianity. Thanks, Diana.
