USS New York
I'm waiting for the commisioning ceremony for the newest battleship USS New York.
Have you seen her?
It looks very different from the other battleships I have seen.
I wish I could be there to see her up close.

One of my friends has a daughter stationed on the USS New York. He'll be at the ceremony.

The New York is the fifth ship in the LPD 17 San Antonio class of amphibious transport dock ships.
Her keel was forged with scrap iron taken from the World Trade Center debris.
Oddly enough, a previous holder of the name, USS New York (BB-34), had its keel laid on September 11, 1911, exactly 90 years to the day before the WTC was attacked.

Hi cabinfever...I knew she had part of the WTC in her but didn't know about the last USS New York. I just think the ships are so breath taking. I can't explain the feeling I get standing beside an American Ship.
