Okay, be prepared for a short rant.
So Valentine's Day. A day for lovers, a day for mystic happiness, and a day that drives me insane. I hate Valentine's Day. Here's why.
1. For schools, it's really just a popularity contest.
Okay, so at my hellish-inferno of a learning institution, we have this thing were people can send each other carnation flowers and then they're delievered on Valentine's Day. The only people you ever see with a carnation are those kids who are on the "A" Social list at our school. I roll my eyes because while one of us "unpopular kids" recieves a carnation that makes us all go crazy with mixed envy and excitement, the whole 'popular clique' [[how are they popular if everyone hates them? Heh, I'll get into that later.]] gets 10,000 freakin' carnations. I have no idea why this is *Slightly sarcasm, slightly real*.
2. What about singles?
Over half of the friends and friendly-aquaintences I have are single. I don't really like that during Valentine's Day, you'll see all these people walking around palm-in-palm [[hand-in-hand is overused :P.]] and all of this aura of love and lust is around in the air. I mean, what the heck are the singles supposed to do? We just have the endure this day of emotional torment and then go cry to our pillows when we get home? Ick. Celebrate your love on your anniverseries people. It doesn't kill you to think of someone else for a day XD.
3. Pink.
I just...hate pink. I like neon-fusica-rock-on-forever sort of pink but Valentine's Day pink. Ew.
4. A few extra bucks in Hallmark's wallet.
Okay so, Valentine's Day seems to be more about materialistic ideas than love these days. Everywhere, you see every damn product in the store coated in dainty, warm-coloured hearts and you think, "Oh! I'll buy that because it'd make a good present!". Now, there isn't anything wrong with exchanging gifts with your sweetie, that's fine. It's just that in modern times, pretty much all you actually do is exchange gifts. Nobody ever sits around and enjoys being with one another, and if they do, it's only for a few minutes. It's pretty sad.
ANYWAYS. So ends my rant. Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu. *Bows*

hmmm, i think that v-day is a great day where ppl, even those who dont have a bf/gf r goin 2 get candy... but i can agree wit u on some of the stuff... :)
