I am sitting in that sinking ship with you. Like you, with the way things are going, the company I work for will be shut down real soon, and I mean real soon. Being in a service industry to other small businesses, they are all complaining about the same thing, some of them are talking about shutting down operations and will no longer need our professional services. We can't afford to loose to many clients before we can't stay open. Fuel costs are outrageous. Do I have to start watering down the milk for the baby? I personally am saving every single dime I can. I carpool, no eating out, no movies, no fun. If we did go out and spend, then maybe things would turn around faster, you know move the money around, that what the stimulas checks are suppose to do, but most people are not going to rush out to the local store and spend it. At least not the people who are on our ship. So, count your blessings, you have a job and prepare for the worst, try to stock up on some essential items, because lets face it, unless gas prices go down, food costs are only going to go up and up.

I think we are about the repeat the depression. Or at least that is my fear. Unless I read wrong the depression was basically caused by too big of a difference between the rich and poor. We are seriously looking like that is whats going on now or what is about to be repeated. The thing is from what I read the thing that pulled us out of the depression was cars being made. The car opened ways for people to work. Rubber production, metal, roads being built, people needing fuel, etc. This was only a part of how we pulled out of it. My question is what can pull us out if we go under now? What hasn't been made that will put people back to work?

My bad I did read wrong. I just looked a quick overview. Hadn't read it since highschool. Something about war brought us out of it?
