Men’s Tennis
The No. 19 tennis team upset No. 8 ranked Florida today. Head coach Jeff Brown said today’s win “was the best tennis” the Tigers played all season. Freshman Sebastian Carlsson came away with the most impressive victory against fellow freshman Erik Corace. For seniors Kevin Dessauer, Colt Gatson, and Jan Zelezny, this was a senior day that they will never forget.
Baseball
The baseball team walked away today with its first victory against Florida in the current series, 6-3. Homers Bradford held Florida to three runs and pitched the entire game. Matt Clark hit a 2-run homer in the second inning to give the tigers the 2-0 advantage. Second baseman Ryan Schimpf also hit a homerun to give the Tigers the 3-0 lead.
Women’s Tennis
The Lady Tigers lost to No. 4 Florida this afternoon. Due to injuries, Mykala Hedberg, Staten Spencer and Tiffany Tucker did not participate in their singles events.
“It was a very tough match,” Head Coach Tony Minnis said. “Hopefully by next weekend we will be able to get healthy and get our lineup back on the courts.
Softball
The No. 8 Gators defeated LSU today 7-0 to take the series. Florida hit three home runs in game bringing the Tigers record to 29-7 and 8-3 in the SEC. Dani Hofer, the starting pitcher allowed three runs on seven hits. Cody Trahan came on in relief and gave up four runs on seven hits. Tiffany Garcia gave up only one hit over the final inning.
Gymnastics
Ashleigh Clare-Kearney and Susan Jackson were honored for their performance this year by earning the All-SEC title. Both are ranked in the top 20 in the nation. Clare-Kearney in No. 2 and Jackson jumped from No. 22 to No. 18 at the past meet.
