Women’s Basketball
Senior Sylvia Fowles, the SEC player of the year, was names one of the 12 finalists for the State Farm Wade Trophy. Fowles is one of the best players in women’s basketball right now averaging 17.2 points and 10 rebounds a game.
Golf
The men’s and women’s golf team participated in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this weekend. The players took turns caddying for the pros of the PGA Tour. Last year, students were lucky enough to caddy for players like Bill Murray and Vijay Singh.
Track
Today was the first day of LSU Tiger Relays, and Junior Rabun Fox started off strong. He beat his old personal record by 12 feet with a measure of 210 feet in the hammer throw. Fox is rated No. 3 in the SEC for his throw. Also, Nickiesha Wilson and Jessica Ohanaja qualified with the best times in the 100-meter hurdles.
Swimming
The men's swimming team broke records today at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The team broke the 200-free relay record and finished 12th overall with a time of 1:18.46. Competing in this event were Miko Malberg, Hannes Heyl, Christoph Lubenau and Brandon Selts. Malberg also finished 21st in the 50-freesytle race.
Football
Ryan Perrilloux suspension was lifted today, but he has yet to report to practice. Even though his suspension was lifted, he was not granted practice or playing privileges. 15,000 tickets for the spring game were sold, but Les Miles says that he “would like to see more.”
