| Mountains, Pot, Nudity, Recession, I'm back baby!! |
I'm now over one year old at thoughts.com !!!
One hell of a year it has been.........and I haven't posted yet in 2009. I posted a lot for the first half of last year because I needed somebody to talk to and somebody to listen. Everybody on here was great.
I think I'll run through a quick recap of the last year. I was living in New York City and I owned a small staffing firm with 25 employees working for me. I had two relatives die in the spring and an employee that worked for me. I lost my business because of the terrible recession that has hit the city and I had to declare personal bankruptcy. I also got married in November and have moved out of the state this year and now work at a small CPA firm as a staff accountant. My wife bought a house and we now live in a small town in rural america. Damn it feels nice!! The stress of the last year nearly killed me last fall when Manhattan and the financial industry collapsed. Lehman Brothers was our biggest client and they collapsed in mid September. In October I had a mental breakdown and lost nearly 15 pounds in a week. It was a disaster. Now my life has turned for the good again and altough I lost nearly everything I feel that I have a chance to grow again. I'm only 33 years old so I have plenty of time to get it together again and I can already tell that my experiences of running a business in Manhattan will help me do very well lin rural america where people tend to be a little less ambitious.
For those of you that remember me from last year....I still love to drink a lot and I've recently been walking around my new house nude but my neighbors can easily see me here compared to my 26th floor apartment in the city. Oh well, if they happen to catch a glimpse then I'm sure these country folks will be suprised !!
I'm very happy now and I love to hit the little bars in the area and now I feel like I have lived through history. I watched fed chairman Bernacke on 60 minutes tonight and I now realize that for the rest of my life I will be able to tell a story about this global recession and how I was a small part of it. I've now started pouring every penny I make into the stock market and I am always looking for business opportunites as they come up.
It's unbelievably cheap to live here! We bought a very nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a view over the mountains for $120k !! My mortgage is $580 per month!! I was paying $3263.50 per month for a 650 foot one bedroom in NYC!! Damn!
Anyway, I think I might smoke a little pot for the first time since I moved here. (I just unpacked my bowl this morning) and chill out in front of the TV.......mmmmmmmmmmm...... perhaps a glass of wine also!!
To all of you out there that might have lost your job or been effected by this recession I can offer you some hope that someday things will get better. Don't be afraid to make bold decisions because in the end... health and happiness are all we really should be strving for. Everything else is just a bonus.
Glad to be back on thoughts.com and I hope I continue to come on.
Meredith, hope you're well in my old city. I'll read some of your posts soon to find out!
And as I always say, "please leave a quick comment if you got this far!"
