Figured out meaning of life......NO bullshit!!
I work at a recruiting firm where I've seen thousands of people change jobs and complain about their current situations.  Of course I'm about 30 sheets to the wind so if you don't want to beleive me you dont' have to but.............

Most people are constantly looking for the next thing in life that will make them happy........once I get here I'll be happy,.......once I get this comisssion check ...I'll start to save some....once I get my own place I'lll be happy....one I get away from my parents ............I'll be fucking happy !!!............bullshit.........

That's right bullshit.....

Happyness........here we go, spelling and all.......

Work hard and be good at whatever you do....no matter what it is.   Nobody really "knows" what they are supposed to do in life and most of the time they don't do what they went to school for or what they intended to do.  Goddamn it, nobody does for their life!!    The key is to take a look at what you are doing right now......right now for  a job or life.....and be the best at it as you can possibly be.  At the end of the day you will be happier...guaranteed.  If you truely put in the effort you will thank me.

Also, very imporant, do your best at your current employer and do not leave to go elsewhere.........talking about putting myself out of business..............truth is hard..............most people are paid what they are worth...like it or not..........once again........most people are paid what they are worth...like it or not...............if you feel you are underpaid then by all means go ask your boss for a raise..........if they say no, then go on a few interviews and get an offer, if it is substantially higher....ie, 10% or more, then your boss was wrong.....if not then you are getting paid what you're worth..

I've seen so many talented people be pissed about their pay but they do not put in the extra effort........employers do not pay for talent.....they pay for effort..................be the first one into the office anteh last one to leave, work your ass off and then if you don't get the raise you ask for be pissed..........but not unitl.........

Life is a battle and if you don't work your ass off..........you will not climb the ladder...........plain and simple.....

you will not.......

wearing out now because i'm too drunk to see and been out all night, and now alice n chains are putting me to bed.......leeave a note if you got this far....

work hard as hell, get what you deserve,.......don't work, get nothing...........

Hi, I don't agree. We are all worth more than money - when a boss puts a dollar figure on our time its an insult. Nevertheless no object that someone is selling is worth more than the highest price someone is willing to pay for it. The price is arbitrary - and it changes. Too many workers, not enough work - there's always be someone who'll work for less so the price comes down. Too much work, not enough workers - there's always an employer who'll pay more for that worker - it brings the price up. Its part and parcel of capitalism. Not to mention the fact that the only way an employer makes a profit is by paying a person less for a day of work than the value of that persons day of work. If you don't get it but want to get it read "wage labour and capital" by Karl Marx.

People are just yearning for something more because they're sick of tripping out of bed without enough sleep to battle their way to work to slave their guts out for someone else to make the profit etc, etc. Its okay to want something more. Happiness is the journey not the goal - if the journey's not doing it for you find a new one. That is all.

Btw - i read everything, all of it. Just cause.... last night, and today - over beer and coffee and whatever else... between conversations on msn - that kinda thing. I only read your last post when I made my first comment - didn't know that you own a business and employ people when I wrote it - I still stand by it... but I can see how an employer'd be less for what I say - less for the theory more for the the real, downright dirty, ugly truth - just how things are - just how the world steamrolls on. I for one am not giving up yet. Not gonna lie down and die in a dead end job - there's still a long way I can fall before I have to just get up and serve the devil.

Guess crashing_down doesn't believe I've figured out the meaning of life. My points if missed:

1. Happiness = being the best at what you are doing now.
2. Nobody really knows what they are supposed to be doing in life....so see # 1.
3. Most people in this country "feel" they are underpaid, if you believe so then interview..but realize if you want to ge ahead in your job or career you need to work THE HARDEST of all your coworkers.
4. Yes I have employees and we serve drinks every friday at 4pm, we are all going bowling next month with free booze, we go to a new New York restaurant every quarter, (nice ones like Smith & Wolenski's & TAO) and many other things....they always ask me to go out after work and most like me.....I don't treat people like slob...I've seen 1000's of people LEAVE their jobs...

Hey Nutshell, I hear you - be your best - never sell yourself short by half hearted effort.
If you are doing something you enjoy then you can usually do your best and have fun while you are...

hmmm I still dont know what I want to be when I grow up! :)

We are coming from different places. If I were to ever walk in your shoes no doubt I'd reconsider. Been taken advantage of by too many employers though - I do work hard - the hardest I can... also been beat down by too many co-workers who find it easier to bring people down a notch than to raise themselves up a notch.

Sounds like your workplace has a positive culture. That's good.

I dare say we are both guilty of throwing blanket generalities at concepts that have a huge range of variants. Wasn't trying to give you a hard time - just to have a discussion... maybe play devil's advocate a bit. I do it without noticiing anymore... maybe not so good online with no context.

As for the meaning of life... I don't think you've figured it out... I don't seriously believe that you seriously think you have though.

Damn - you are so coherent even at 30 sheets to the wind. I could never express myself so eloquently after drinking to excess. Nice job.

By the way, I agree with you - I hate when people expect to be "rewarded" for simply showing up. In order to get extra, you have to do extra. I also hate when people complain all of the time but don't seem to make any effort to better their situation. Frustrating.
