 Baptist Chruch...prisoners and fainting
I had a really interesting but random day today. I went to a Baptist church to interview an ex -prisoner who had found God and turned his life around. His story was amazing. He had started drinking aged eight and smoking cannabis and committed his first burglary the same age. He had been in prison from 17-29 and got onto heroin. I found his story really interesting but his ending comments startled me. The meeting (service) was all clapping, singing and praising and all the kids were free to be kids. Everyone made me feel welcome and hugged me and said I didn't have to do the hand-raising praising if I didn't want to, handy since I don't go to church and have not been christianed, but I'm open to all religions.

Anyway, he then said that all those who did not dedicate their life to Jesus and God would go to hell. I don't like it when people say that because so far I have led a Christian-style life if you like- good deeds etc. He said he would lead me in prayer to find the narrow gate to enter the next stage of loving Jesus but I politely declined...I don't think religion should be enforced. Anyway it changed his life and he has been off drugs and drink for ten years so I was happy for him and asked him some questions to distract him!

Moving on. Does anyone know about Baptist prayer. The pastor placed his hands on people's foreheads and pushed them back. A few wobbled but one women fainted/fell outright on to the floor and lay there for a few minutes while the pastor went back to his stand and carried on singing. No-one battered an eye-lid and the pastor at one point seemed to be speaking in tongues or chanting very fast or something. The music was too loud for me to tell.

Can anyone tell me why these people fell or were falling backwards and why do they get left on the floor!?

Thanks xxx
