| VOIP |
VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol, is simply using the internet to transmit phone calls and faxes. What happens is that you make a call that data is transfered in to digital data goes through the internet and then is recieved decoded and answered by another VOIP phone.
VOIP is making a change in communictions in different ways. With the VOIP you are able to coneect from phone to phone, pc to phone, and pc to pc. What makes this so handy for commucniations is that it will allow for multiple phones and/or pc on the sytem to reiceve mass messages or calls. For example: The phone used here at UofL are able to recieve messages about saftey and closing within seconds. This message gets out to all dorm rooms and classes, since they all have the hone installed. It is a simple an easy way to get info quickly to another person. It can allow for confrence calls and easy of comincating any where in the world that has the VOIP requirements. It also cuts down the cost of communication. These points can be reitterated by an article located at:

There are many good things to come out of teh VOIP and there can be many technological changes that will allow it to be. As we get more advance with techonolgy so does are use. It makes since that we would upgrade our basic unit of communciating with an up-to-date version. I expect there to be amny changes that will benefit communication with the VOIP.
