Well, she seems to be doing okay. No more nausea since a few days ago. She now has hiccups. That is a side effect of the new medication (zarontin). Anyone have any ideas on how to make them go away? They act up after she finishes eating. She is still completely exhausted, and that seems to be frustrating her. She cried last night because she didn't want to take her meds. That is the first time ever that I was afraid she was going to refuse to take them. The part that I am most frustrated about is that it doesn't even seem to be helping. She is still having the same number of seizures as she was on just the depakote alone, and she wasn't tired at all! If the tiredness does not go away by her appt in mid october, and she is still seizing, I really don't see the point. I know that she is at a greater risk of having a grand mal, but if it is not helping, I would prefer to take her off of the zarontin, and just leave her on the depakote. The depakote controls most of the seizures, and the other meds give her a very poor quality of life. She misses out on so much when she is all drugged up, and she realizes that. I do have to say that through this process of dealing with a chronic condition, I have learned so much. I have learned that Natalie is an amazing person, so optimistic, and always puts others first. I have learned that I am a lot stronger than I thought that I was! I have learned that I have some really great friends and family! I just need to remember my blessings, and stay positive.
Thanks for listening!
