We started the new medicine today (Zarontin), and she did okay. I didn't notice a change in the number of seizures, but it usually takes awhile for the meds to build up in her system before they start to work. We lower the Keppra dose to 1/2 after one week, then remove it altogether after the next week. I cannot wait until she is off of the Keppra. It makes her soooo tired, and just kind of depressed. She was REALLY tired today, she took a nap in the morning, then we went to a pool party for a few hours with families from church. She then came home a slept again, and then she wanted to go to soccer practice with her brother to play on the playground with her little sister. She only played for about 1/2 hour, then wanted to go home to sleep some more. She sat and watched her brother practice for awhile, and said the they looked like they were having fun. I told her that I could sign her up to play again this year, but she said that she didn't want to. She wants to do something else instead like dance or something like that. She is going to start singing at church with her dad and the worship team, and that will be great for her. I would normally get really nervous about her being on stage, because when she gets nervous, it triggers her seizures. At church, everyone knows about her epilepsy, and would be so happy and supportive to see her up there. (Plus dad will be on stage with her)
