Its ironic that hormones should be topical again, so soon after my last blog....However, last saturday son 3 went to a sleepover & camped in the garden with two other friends.
During the night a girlfriend who was having a sleepover of her own, text them & asked them to come over. Without any thought, the three amigos crept out of the garden, went over to the girls house, shinned up the back wall, climbed over the balcony & got into her bedroom. Eventually (as you might expect) the parents awoke to find the boys & rightfully sent them packing!
After a long talk with son 3 about thinking before acting, responsibility etc, I later asked hubby what he would have done in the same situation...his reply was an ear to ear grin!
The next day, newly grounded son 3 is catching up on homework. Looking over his shoulder I am pleased to find him confidently calculating Mass Body Indexes in a science paper, but less pleased to see that his answer is 'one fat *!-*?'...is that wise I ask, 'Oh yeah, our science teacher will think its funny, the real answers are on the back' he says.
Thinking about hubbys grin, the Romeo Juliet scenario is definately down to hormones but the homework humour can only be put down to stupidity, especially when I later learn that his efforts have earned him an after school detention.
Still, I can't help thinking that such fearlessness & humour will carry him far in life!

My son (12 years old now) which is a spelling genius once wrote "we were a democrapic nation". This was around a year ago.
I asked him about it and he admitted to spelling it that way on purpose. He turned it in that way and got asked by his teacher about it. He didn't get any detentions just some stern looks I guess.

I remember as a youth, sneaking to the park after dark with a group of guys and a bottle of " Little Brown Jug ".
Every group of young people " pushes the envelope " now days.
Its " the rite of passage " .
