Every cloud has a silver lining!!

With son 2 at uni & son 3 keeping us busy with his antics (his slant on Romeo & Juliet being the last blog), son 1 seems to be relatively easy.....I should have known changes were on the horizon.

After a race night to raise funds for his football team, son 1 returned home a little worse for wear. On eventually making it to his room, suddenly I hear the noise of him vomiting - ugh! I groan, but he is 19 & old enough to look after himself, so I turn over & go to sleep.

The next day I didn't have to work & got up when everyone had left the house, checked son 1's bedroom & found it clean & tidy (fabulous!). I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, pottered about the garden & got ready to meet a friend in town for coffee.

As I reversed the car out of the drive, I gasped in horror to see purple streaks & diced carrot decorating the front of the house. Obviously realising that he wasn't going to make it to the bathroom he had opened his bedroom window & chundered down the front of the house!

Now, I'm sure that dismantled & rearranged in a modern art gallery  many would see this as a great piece. However, I angrily left my art contribution consisting of a bucket, broom & disinfectant in his room to use when he got home.
After ashamedly apologising, he explained that as he'd been drinking, to prevent dehydration he drank loads of blackcurrant juice before going to bed.

On reflection, a technicolour yawn out of the window is the silver lining - we'd never have got blackcurrant stains out of the carpet or bedclothes, so in a weird way I'm glad he did  it out of the window......not that I'll ever tell him that, a bit of remorse never hurt anyone!

Aha! such fond memories, well none of us is perfect! I hate being a hypocritical parent, but am beginning to lean that it goes with the job description!
