 Hipocracy: the New Democracy
Who amongst eurosceptics did not rejoice at the Irish 'No' vote? Who hesitated to call the EU Treaty dead (even a democratically elected president hinted at it)? But who was suprised when Mr Sarkozy urged the ratification process to continue?

It is common knowledge that the 'Treaty' (a knock of version of the 2005 'Constitution' rejected by dutch and french voters) must be ratified by all 27 members of the European Union before it can become law; Ireland has voted no effectively buring the treaty/constitution once more. Yet  EU leaders are continuing to ratify the treaty (Britain this week, Cyprus and Greece a few weeks back) saying that Ireland represents only 0.01& of the European Union's total population. Ignoring statistics like that isnt easy, but where are the 26 other referendums to show us what the other 99.99% want?

To add insult to injury, the Treaty is 95% the same as the Constitution that has already been rejected. Does 5% really make that much of a difference?

Now the EU is demanding a new Irish Referendum. The question that should be on most people's minds is: How many referendums will it take until the EU gets the vote they want? What is astonishing is the hipocracy that becomes evident within the EU itself.

It wasnt that long ago, when the EU was condeming Zimbabawe and Mr Mugabe for his run off presidential election after he had lost the first round. Not having gotten the victory that he wanted in the first round, the Zanu (PF) opted for a second vote to aquire what eluded them in the first vote. Now Mr Sarkozy is calling for a new referendum because they didnt like the first answer. If its not ok for them then why is it ok for us?

You could almost be excused for thinking: when does the violence start?

It seems pretty clear tome that the EU acts alot like the US CONGRESS. It all spells too much power in too few hands and a citizenry asleep at the switch much as you see in America today. The EU wants more power and a military presence in a world of deminishing US influence. BE CAUTIOUS Any giving up of freedom handed over to the EU or anyone else is a slippery slope. There must be activists working on this..join them and fight for your freedoms!!!Democracy Now!
