 The 'Blind Side'
Remember the old saying, "He caught me on my 'blind side'"?  Or "I was blindsided"?  Basically it just means an attack from a direction you were not expecting.

Someone made a comment on my last entry about beliefs that many times you know it is your beliefs that are hurting you, but at the time when you most need to be positive, you are too weak.  And in my experience, what is worse, you are too weak to even care.  Sure, you know you need to change what you are thinking, but you just can't find enough energy to even care, let alone succeed.

There is a very good way to overcome this.  An effective strategy if you will, to 'blind-side' your depression.   Believe it or not, ..... Excercise!  We all know that excercise releases endorphins, a natural mood altering substance in our brains, but do we apply this knowledge in a way that will prevent our depression?  True, when you are in the 'depths', you probably aren't going to summon up the resolve to get up and go for that brisk walk.  And if you are physically incapacitated you won't be able for the kind of excercise you need.

For those of you that are healthy however, don't wait until your depression is in full force, and then think, "Oh yeah, I need to excersize!"  Start before your depression hits, and get an excercise schedule in place.  That way you are committed before you get weak.  Find a partner who will push you to keep on schedule.  And if you find yourself getting angry during your workout, well, let the workout be your outlet.

A friend of mine in the medical field tells me that depression CAN be the result of repressed anger.

Once again, let me re-iterate: You MUST come to the point where you refuse to take it anymore.  If you don't have this promise to yourself, all the good advice in the world won't help you, because you won't use it.  You have to be fed up with the way you are feeling, and resolve that you will not accept that feeling any longer!

Wow!Thank you, you are God sent. I can just hear your voice telling me that. I have made that same decision today. I will not let depression get the best of me. I am a person full of life, I only speak positive words and I only think positive thoughts.
Thank you
