So you want to write a blog? You want to share your mind bending ideas to the world? Maybe make a profit? What do you need to get a great blog going? Well in this article I will let you know some of the grand avenues you can take your blogging experience to.
Let’s start by asking what does a blog do? Simple, it provides you with a platform that allows you to speak your mind to the world (in light-year record time!). It will allow you to pretty much write a journal for the entire world to see at your own rate of output. Apply yourself by first taking the time to write. Then make sure that you make a title each time you write a post that is flat and straight to the point. This will help your blog in searches that your potential readers will be looking for. Also make sure that your tags that you place for the post are right on topic and simply… simple. This will help you get the most in searches that are related to your topic (more than you ever dreamed!).
Next let’s get down to what type of topic you are going be writing. When writing a blog really any type of character or authorship goes…just make sure you know that no one…and I mean no one likes reading stale and boring articles…so get creative in your post! Make the thing as interesting and in-depth as your mind (or time) will allow you to go! Just make sure it is not plain and directly straight to the point (like your title should be!).
Try to cover topics of your choice with as much information as possible for the readers so that they can make their own judgment and opinions based off of your rant, incredible advice, or lecture. A great blog draws readers in and makes them want to pitch it to their friends or associates! You want your readers to have the “hell yea!” attitude or at very least interested perception! If you can write an email you can write a blog! If you want to search the blog ecosystem try checking out www.blogdex.net, www.icerocket.com, www.blogpulse.com, or www.technorati.com! Now there is another part of this ecosystem that can be a major help to people seeking blogs there are places that are directories for solely blogs! Go check out www.blogwise.com, www.blogarama.com, or www.globeofblogs.com! These sites are great for getting an idea what blogging is and what it is all about! If you want to check out other peoples blogs these areas above mentioned are a great place to start!
Now let’s get to the ways to starting your blog. Some great sites are known for their blogger paradise like appeal! Try going to www.blogger.com, this site is very great and well known for giving you an easy one, two, three start up! Other sites worthy of mention are www.wordpress.com and www.typepad.com. If you are feeling adventurous and want a totally unique blog that you can add even more features try www.webs.com! This site allows you to not only build your own blog, but if you want you can start your own website for absolutely free! No strings attached! This is an easy alternative to getting started! Just go to one of these sites and get to blogging!
Now here is the part that many want to know quite often (and I don’t blame them).
How do you make money from your blog? I will advise that if you are getting into the blogging for fun then you may want to hold off on this section until later (but can’t hurt to read!). There are many associated areas in the internet that will be wonderful if not priceless to squeezing you a profit. Let me remind you though, the better and more detailed you write the more chance you have of gaining public interest and making money!
Let’s start by the basics. Sell your own product! Use the blogs to communicate to your readers about others using your product. Allow your readers to comment on your posts and provide room for other people to see the testimonials! You can create products easy at sites like www.cafepress.com, or www.lulu.com! These sites allow you to create and build your own products! Another site worth mentioning but can be expensive to pockets of the consumer is www.zazzle.com. Another way to make some money is start a member’s only blog that requires a membership fee. Use your public blog to create an interest for the membership blog. Get a sponsor! If you are getting some great traffic and dedicated readers then get some marketing going! Companies like Volvo, Nike, and Adobe have done this to increase promotion for their brands and get some products out there! Try affiliated sales opportunities! Are you planning to maybe write a book or movie review? Add your www.amazon.com affiliate link and play with the reader on how this product has worked or changed the way you do business. Add a link so they can buy it immediately!
Try hosting some ads... There are many services out there that would love for you to show them off like www.blogads.com, or the Adsense program from www.google.com. One of the first sites that dealt in this was www.pvrblog.com. The latter actually does news on stuff like Tivo and pays for its hosting using this method. Maybe you are ingrained and you want to launch a blog network.
There are some companies like www.gawker.com and www.weblogsinc.com that create entire networks of blogs staffed by expert writers. These sites earn their revenue from ads and affiliated sales on products that are related. Some other major blog networking areas are www.b5media.com and www.shoeblogs.com. The final advice on making some money is adding a tip jar through using services from www.paypal.com or once again, www.amazon.com. Ask your readers that if they found your posts and blog useful or compelling to drop some loose change. A lot of bloggers are using these tips and strategies very useful and are turning (no lie or exaggeration) thousands of dollars a month. Now the last step and most important of all… Write about useful and interesting things and stay focused!
OK. You have the basic Ed on what to start with, what to stay in-tune with in your writing adventure, you now have the tools and means to get it done. My job is now done and I got to hit the hay very soon (getting rare now days). I wish you good luck on your trial in blogging and hope I see you around in the bloggersphere!
