 Where to go from here?
I am nearing the point of retirement and thinking about where to go.  I want a place that is comfortable, warm and safe.  I have heard about Central America, which is nice because it is close, but at the same time am not sure whether I actually want to leave the US.  The problem is that nowadays trying to retire here in the states is so expensive, I don't know if I can afford it.

I have been to Europe and love it over there, but with the failing dollar, this is not an option.  Then I think about Asia, which would be cheap and beautiful, but I worry about the safety of it, and it is also very far away, and hence my kids would never be able to come visit me.  Anyone else in the same situation, who has any advice on the best places to retire, please let me know.  I am confused and would love to chat with anyone else who has been going through some of the same stuff.

Sometimes it just helps to talk to someone and know that they are experiencing the same thing.  My wife passed away a few years back, and undertaking this all alone is kind of difficult.

This comment is probably completely useless to you as I am far from retirement. BUT, I thought I'd say that if I were you I'd think about Central America some more! I personally love spanish and all that goes along with it. Then again Greece and Italy are gorgeous too.... sorry, just some rambling ideas.
