Such a sensitive subject. Not sure why though, since gay people have been around since the dawn of time. But why talk about it now? Why is it on everyones mind? Everywhere you turn, on billboards, magazines, in the news? I'll tell you. Because gay people can no longer be ignored. And some people have a problem with that. They thought they could just continue to ingore it like the Black Plague and hope it would eventually go away. Since when has that ever worked anyway? I'll tell you. Never.
Let me clear up a few misconceptions about gay people. They dont just hang out in gay bars, bath houses, and AIDS Awareness meetings people. They are everywhere you go. Probably one out of every ten people you come across every day. They're your bank teller, your grocery clerk, your gym attendant, your AT&T rep, your landlord, your employee, and yes, even your cable guy.
The worst thing you can say when talking about a gay person is "Ugh, gross, thats sick." Why you ask? I'll tell you. Because nowadays everyone knows that the person who is saying that is the person who has wondered about their own sexuality and is covering up for their true feelings and questions about themselves and how they feel about it by persecuting gays. Any intelligent person in this country knows that if youre comfortable with yourself and your own sexuality, it is of no consequence to you that someone else is different.
Ive had gay friends who have told me that when they had to tell a close friend of theirs that they were gay, they would get the usual: " Thats cool, just dont try to hit on ME". What a joke. Just because youre a guy and your gay friend is a guy doesnt mean he is attracted to you. Dont flatter yourself. Just because you have a penis doesnt mean your his type. Its no different than straight people and how they are attracted or not attracted to eachother. The misconception about gay people is that they are soooo different from straight people. You couldnt be more wrong. The ONLY difference is that they find the same sex attractive instead of the opposite sex. They dont have a stronger sex drive than straight people, they dont automatically want to bone their friends of the same sex, they dont feel anything different than a straight person, except that small factor. They are attracted to their own sexes. Big deal.
Today in America, homosexuality is much more acceptible, as well it should be. Why gays are denied marriage is beyond my comprehension. Love is not biased. When you feel love, it feels right.
Another major misconception about gay people is that they BECAME gay for some reason or another. This is a big fat joke. When a boy is born, he will grow up to be attracted to girls, or he will grow up to be attracted to boys. There is no decision making process for love and sexual attraction. Gay people do not choose to be a social outcast, being refused to marry the one they love, to be criticized and ridiculed all their life. Who would choose such an atrocious life? If it were simply a matter of choosing, dont you think gays would just "choose" to be straight and make life a hell of a lot easier? DUH! OF COURSE!
But back to the real world..... Life is ALL about choices. But to choose who you want to and NOT want to love? As humans, we simply dont have a choice in this matter, You either feel it or you dont. Period.
What if all gay people in this country were to just go on strike one day. To not go to work, to not answer the phone, to not be a part of society at all. I think it would be a blow to the head of the whole world. Then and only then would they realize what a major impact gay people actually have on their life. Stores would close, banks would be shut down, AT&T would stop taking calls, and worse. The news wouldnt broadcast. Who knows. But gay people have every right as straight person does. Why would human rights be different for someone just because of who they decided to fall in love with? Gay people vote, gay people pay taxes. Maybe they shouldnt. If the government is going to deny gay people of the same rights as straight people, then why do they serve in the miltary? Why do they pay taxes to support a governor or a president who doesnt support them? I'll tell you why, Because they still hope that one day, people will have compassion for human life and do the right thing. Thats very sad. In the 60's, black people didnt have equal rights because they were black, We ended that because we realized it was wrong. Will America do that for the gays? I hope so.
Its sad how Christianity condemns homosexuality. What a bunch of hypocrites. YOUR God created gays, so dont go to the gays with your complaints, go to YOUR God about it. And isnt it ironic how Christian priests are always the ones who are getting busted for doing the nasty with their choir boys? I mean, Im just sayin!

I personally don't have a problem with gay people. I worked a cafe that where I was the only female and the guys were all gay bar one. They are normal people. They still feel, think, talk, have opinions - they are human just like straight people. Who said it was normal for guys to like girls and vice versa anyway? Just because it is different doesn't mean it is wrong.

I think the reason the so called Christians attack Gays is because there lives are so perfect they have nothing else to do but stick their noses into other peoples buisness..I have always believed in, you do your thing and i'll do mine..just dont force yours on me.

Dont mistake my intentions there Wayne. Im not running around screaming "GAY PRIDE!, GAY PRIDE!" Im saying that gay people ARE entitled, as human beings, the same rights as anyone else. And I do agree with your comment in regards to so-called Christians. And I wish they would stop going door to door tryin to force their religious beliefs on others. How would they like it if gay people started going door to door with their little gay WatchTowers saying: "Be gay! Its really cool and you'll go to heaven!"

You know what's really funny is when people mistake choice/preference with orientation. I was born gay don’t know why but I was. I had when they talk about what people choose to do as if they are in the same situation as I am. They say if we allow gays to get married then what’s wrong with a guy marrying several women. We were made this way….
